I agree the 'who's' debatable but the rest?

Just a cheap shot from me. A comment on spelling followed by 'who's' when it should have been 'whose'.

Damn, I alway's get that one wrong...... :donk:
but at least I can spell empowerment!

Capatin Kouta, you are too pure of spirit for me.

Paranoid I'm not, but you are entitled to your views,
let's just agree to recall that aspect of those dark days differently

Pure I most certainly am not. I don't mind if we see things differently. Makes the world go round....

Just to cheer everyone up. I completly destroyed a Collingwood supporters day and shattered her delusional state when I pointed out that Collingwood only got its start back in the day thanks to Carltons benevolance. It got better when I produced the documentary evidence that was hidden deep in Collingwoods own archives.

She was still muttering "I don't believe it" when I left at 5.00.

Hey Blue Mark. I must have missed what led up to your post, but this sounds like gold. Can you point me in the reight direction for more info?

Back when Collingwood joined the VFA, thier was some resistance initially by some others clubs most notably from Fitzroy because Collingwood was to be based on a club called Britannia which had strong links to Fitzroy.
Anyways the way the VFA was run back then was that clubs designed thier own seasons so they played not only other VFA clubs but also country clubs and even interstate clubs. To be eligable for the VFA a club had to play 18 games in a season. Collingwood could only muster 17. Carlton did two things. One we swapped our game against South Ballarat to play Collingwood to make up the 18th game, then we donated the takings from that game to help them financially as they were struggling. The ungrateful whelps then promptly stole one of our best players and then started the brawls in the 1910 Grand final. The rest is history
