Well good luck to the MC. But i can't see their reasoning with those selections. (Enter Cazz to give me shit about being on a football forum with an opinion!)

- Watson was hardly our worst player last week (see Carrazzo, Duigen, Betts, half a dozen others)
(White was dropped just one game ago. One game in VFL is all it takes to get your form back these days, so it appears)

- Watsons kicking is already more elite than 75% of our list
(White's kicking is still a work in progress)

- Watsons 195cm, THEREFORE taller than Hurley and body for body could match him in strength.
(White is about 4cm shorter)

- Henderson was wasted down back in Brisbane and we've worked so hard on him being a forward and yet we play him down back in the Bullants after he kicks a few goals? What is that going to do for his development?

- With dropping Watson (who gave 110%) and keeping players like Carrazzo, Duigen, Walker and others (who didn't give a shit) what kind of culture will this create?????

I just can't see the reasoning behind those picks. That's all.

From what i saw Watson had to go. Too many goals were being scored due to him being out there. THe coaches would have tested him this week and by the looks of things thought it better to give him games in the reserves to learn a few things about 1 on 1 defending and make sure his confidence doesnt get shot by another flogging.

Ratts is giving Carrazzo, Duigan, Betts and Walker a chance to redeem themselves after last weeks game. Fair enough. Seeing how they respond is part of knowing what blokes are made of.

Henderson played forward, back and ruck in the reserves. The coaches know what he can do . They were putting miles into his legs to get him matchfit for this week. It is also good to educate him about playing defense and ruck. Both positions he will be asked to play regular enough.

They obviously rate White after watching him on the track for the last 15 months. I am sure they want to give him every chance to take that form to real stuff.

The coaches have a lot more information than you and i have on all the players. They are experts on the game that spend 70 hours a week working on football. They dont pick teams just to upset people on forums.

THIS.

We can't torch White on the Tiges game, wasn't much else to take on Jack. He showed enough last year (when matched properly!) to get a better look at him. The third back tall is still up for grabs.

I dont think we should be getting upset about Watson. It's the first year of a long career and he's already been able to play on the G in front of 88000! Yes he is a better kick but he really needs to learn to throw his body into marking contests and to not allow his opponent to take the optimum position each time. He was tired in the second half and it showed. Perhaps its rest, perhaps they have something planned for White in a specific contest. Ive seen a bit of Watson and I like it.

Walker had two very good weeks and couldnt get into it. He tried long leads but Collingwood was too smart for him. Against Essendon* he might find some gaps.

Thornton ran hard as last week's CHF and tried to create options but he's no Henderson. If Thornton's main entry into the seniors is as a forward he wont be playing many games - I thought after round 1 he was going to be a Mr.Utility type but I cant recall him being sent back in the Collingwood game to relieve Jamison (even when Jamison went off limping). They preferred Watson and Laidler, so Thornton is going to struggle to get a game barring injury.

They must like something about Duigan and to be fair he has a bit of catching up to do. I think we need more small defensive options and wouldnt be surprised if someone comes in. But having White and Henderson back allows more strength down the spine than in Round 3, with some flexibility in White's selection.

I didn't think Duigan was our worst.

What erred me about Simon White was his absolutely terrible disposal. Even against the Gold Coast, he was spraying kicks everywhere. You can't afford that against Essendon*.

I'm glad Collins has another go. I thought despite a few stupid errors he is a goer.

The changes probably indicate that our list falls away after about the top 12-15. White, Duigan and Laidlaw are all inexperienced and have come via rookie or late picks. They are honest and will keep improving but are unlikely to be world beaters and at the moment they will struggle on occasions.

TBird wasn't our worst but also not our best. The game has passed him by. Apart from Jeff G our forward line was very ordinary, especially when the ball hit the ground. I have been supremely confident ag Essendon* over the last 3 years and we have lost them all apart from last year when the Bombers players weren't interested as they wanted to get rid of their coach. I am worried by their pace, by Hille and Ryder as long targets and by their current form. But it is a yardstick match. We can't afford to be beaten by sides we were ahead of last year. A crucial game. And they don't get any easier over the next few weeks. But we had about 8 passengers last week and still got pretty close. It was their crumbing goals in heavy traffic that beat us.

Walker would want a blinder this week after the rubbish he served up last round. We need to get first hands on the ball, slow them down and deny them possession. Should be a real test.

Personally I think it's more to do with the fact that we have 16 players in their 1st or 2nd year in an AFL system (13 if you take away first year rookies).

There's talent aplenty, but a lot of inexperience.

Really hoping it doesn't rain tomorrow, if it does, we will get absolutely pumped!
Our team relies on footskills, we play like millionaires, just like the western bulldogs. As soon as the rain comes we get exposed due to our lack of desperation and hard running.
Only Judd, robbo, Jeff and curnow have been battling hard, it's a fair knock on the group when a rookie listed, first year player immediately stands out and gets a game because his work ethic is head and shoulders above the rest!

The Richmond game is a perfect example. In the 3rd it started raining, our skills were taken out of it, Richmond battled hard and came back like a freight train.

Sorry Caz,

I have no doubt the match commitee have more information than anyone on here but I believe that Lucas and Watson are in our best 22-24 and that the priority is to get games into them and enhance their development. Bullants footy doesn't make AFL footballers. These guys are our best 2 draftees in my opinion and they are running round the suburbs. All I read in the papers is that kids need 40 to 50 games to launch into senior careers. I think Lucas is on a par with Duigan, Laidler, Carrazzo, Collins. Watson is already on a par with Jamison, Thornton & Laidler. Their Talent will ensure they passe these players once they gain experience.

Are you being serious? Watson is no where near the level of Jamison. I know Watson is a high draft pick and has shown some signs but he has a long way to go. Let's not get carried away from the excitement of high draft picks and be more realistic. Watson and Lucas will be great players but they are not yet good enough to hold down a spot week in and week out. It takes time.

Forecast is for shower or two clearing in the morning, likely it wont' even amount to that.

Every player is different but there is nothing wrong with letting new players learn things in the two's. Look at Reid and Brown at Collingwood as examples. Even Pendlebury took 10 or so rounds to get into the ones. I have no problem with Watson going back to practice and improve on things that he obviously needs to work on. You can expect a kid to come in after half a pre season and not get run around by blokes who have had 6 pre seasona and 50 or so games.
Lucas has missed a lot of football and his preseason form was not good. His game against Richmond was not good. He has gone back to get it together and now has to force his way back. It is not the end of the world. He will get it together and be a burst of energy for the team in the near future.

Try the Oxford . Went there for the season opener against Richmond & last Friday and got the game live. Will depend if they have the feed going in with this game on (Channel 10 game in MEL?).

WA OFFICIAL FUNCTION - SATURDAY 16th APRIL
Carlton v Essendon* Live @ The Odin
Saturday 16th April, 12noon

The Odin Tavern
51 Erindale Road
Balcatta
(two minutes from the Erindale Road exit of the Mitchell freeway)

This is our second official function for Season 2011, and the first against the Suns was massive, so be sure not to miss this one. Beating the Bombers is almost as good as beating the Pies, and since we were unable to get over the line last Friday the boys will be primed to get up for this one. We had nearly 200 loyal Blues Supporters singing the song with gusto after demolishing the Suns, so let's see if we can get a louder rendition this week!

The Odin Tavern is a great place to watch the game, a great Blue atmosphere, plenty of TV screens, food available over the bar and an on-site TAB. It will be a big day, so get down early to get a good seat, and remember it is always free entry and anyone is welcome, it is just better if you are wearing Blue!
Go Blues!

Come on down................always a good and very vocal crowd

Oh and I reckon Hille will come in if it's going to be a dry day.

We better flower win. I live in Strathmore.
My Carlton mug on my desk will open me to barrage at work if the Bummers get up.

I hate this mob.
Good thing is they are probably favourites this time.
