I completely understand the frustration over Hampson as he is shitting me too but there's no way the MC will drop him this week. Cannot go into this game with 1 ruck! Hille will most likely play and if he doesn't that Bellchambers bloke has been OK this year.

Having said that if Hampson has another stinker he might find himself in the Bullants the following week, a run against lesser opposition might be needed for him.

Fingers crossed we get a decent rub with the umpires this week after last week's shocker.

History is bunk for forward-thinking Blues

I hope Ratts is firing them up a bit more behind closed doors!

I didn't like that, according to that article, Army wasn't even "in the mix".

Carlton coach Brett Ratten said last night that the preparation for Essendon* was no different to any game. ''Nothing changes,'' said Ratten. ''The process in place for us is the same. We respect our opposition, but things for us don't change.''

Hence why our record against them is shit. We treat them like any other opposition, while they treat us like we're the devil.

The disturbing thing is these types of games ie Essendon*, Collingwood are not just normal games, and for Ratten to treat them as such is ridiculous.

We need out players to genuinly hate those teams like us supporters do.

I dont feel players play for the jumper anymore.

We need to hype these games up, as they are important historically.

I bet ya Essendon* are hyped up enough to hate us, as they always fire against us and Collingwood.

This bullshit about it being the same as a Gold Coast game, gets up my goat.

Therein lies the reason why we dont fire up in these big games like we should.

It's a bit sterile, isn't it. Nothing wrong with adding some good old fashioned passion to clashes with our fiercest rivals I don't think. Can understand though the need to concentrate on the processes.

It's just another game.

We don't need to change our preparation for this game to fire up for Essendon*.

We only have to beat their 22 and match committee to get the points.

History isn't important.

The OUTS should read: Carrazzo, Hampson

The problem is they won't drop these two despite being a liability. Yes, even Hammer, our new Adrian DeLuca. When he takes marks its accidental, and when he kicks goals its because he closed his eyes and prayed.

I hope he now comes out and makes an idiot of my comments on the weekend.

He doesn't need to!

Because he is a superior player or because he gets a gig no matter what?

I digress, though. If Hampson can't mark it then it's more important for Betts and Garlett to be at the fall, however Hampson isn't even bringing the ball down to the front of the pack. With his size and frame there should be no excuses for him to either mark or place the ball to his rovers.

I don't think I'm being too harsh on the guy. He has a discernable advantage that is a requirement if Carlton are to push for top 6 honors.

Whoosh....... again.

Didn't Ratts come out last year and say that he thought in the past he had built these games up too much, talked up the rivalry too much to the players?

What Ratten says on radio or in the press to the public is one thing, what is said behind close doors is another.
Your not going to come out and give ammunition to whoever your playing.

To be fair the comments from Essendon* in the article are just as bland.

OUT: Carrots, Collins, Thornton, Duigan
IN: Ellard, Henderson, Lukas, Armfield

If anyone thinks that Thornton is a better long term, or short term prospect than Henderson, then why did we recruit Henderson ? If he is ready to play he has to come in. Carrots has to be accountable for his turnovers at some stage. Duigan could still be OK for us, as could Collins, but Armfield will provide more run from half back & I am worried about Essendon*'s run and play on, which has hurt us in recent times, although we smashed them last time. I don't take any comfort or confidence from that result. Despite the rantings of some, they are clearly playing better football this year and this is a real danger game for us.

I've heard of an 8 point game JK but surely beating Ess isn't worth the equivalent of 6 wins???????????????

The winning margin 99...

Either that's really bad sarcasm, or you've missed the Get Smart reference.

I really don't understand all the negativity towards Hammer.

He's one of the most athletic big men in the league.
He's from a non-afl background. It always takes big men longer to develop (or so we're told), and he's in his early 20's yet to play 50 games :screwy: :screwy:

He gets his hands on the ball often enough, i think its purely a confidence issue. Once he starts clunking a few....and he will, then watch out.

He just requires a breakthrough game, and i think it will happen this season. I think the MC do as well.

Does anyone remember how long it took Ottens to stamp his authority on a game???

I'm sure MG is doing her best work behind the scenes to get him up for the rest of the season....i think Hammer's about to explode
