I have had my doubts about eddie since 2009. In hindsight I was too late. Too many times in the big games he goes missing and by missing I mean invisible.
He squibed 2 marks which could have both cost goals.
He was a liabilty in a game where 43 players were haveing a red hot go. He is a weak link and is dragging the team down.
He has a lot of talent but he has been in the system ?7-8 years. Is he going to improve?
Can we afford to carry him for the odd game when he decides to turn it on?
I hope he goes back to the bullants till he shows the intensity and dedication required for senior football. He shouldn't be handed a game based on talents he doesnt show often enough.

Betts won't be dropped. Because even playing poorly he takes a defender off Jeff

I really wish I hadn't been threatened with a permanent ban.
This thread and ryan2000 would be in the crosshairs.

Would like to see the stats on eddie in big games.
If they have aports pyschologist at PP I hope they strongly recommendhe attend a few 'brainwashing' sessions.

The limited understanding of football and pot shotting of our players on this forum is completely bewildering. FFS how much better did we look this time than the last two times we played them?! We are building our confidence and game plan and will surprise alot of people this year. Just give it time.

Yes, correct. But you haven't addressed Betts inability to perform on the big stage.

Sorry have been reading pros and cons thread.
Eddie is really playing second fiddle to Jeffy at the moment. I suspect when teams start tagging Jeffy, Betts will step up again. I think Betts work off the ball is massively underrated.

All the more reason to target Saad. Eddie needs a rocket, but at least he's running hard. It should come.

The reason why Betts goes missing in big games - is still unadressed.

8 touches last night and 8 last week against GOLD COAST says it all
Has been poor since signing his big contract last year, his second half on 2010 was poor and his form hasn't improved
Needs to be dropped like St.K dropped Del santo etc

I think Eddie's form will change when we actually get another tall forward who can run in the set up. A 173 cm full forward playing against a 188cm backman and we bomb it onto his head and expect him to outmark them. That may be becuase of the Collingwood pressure but his best chance would have been to outsprinnt them running back towards goal but that wasn't the way the ball was delivered. He is a forward pocket goal sneak not a key position player. Add Kreuzer and Henderson to the forward set up and let them go for those marks them see how Eddie goes.

2 goals a game this year JUST ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH!

He should be kicking 6 goals a game. Or more.

Or finding as much as the ball as Mitch Robinson... I'll allow minus 20% variance and Mitch still is in front by 100%.

For a player that gets paid $350k per year we are not asking............

^ 6? You really think that's adequate for a small forward? we need at least 10-12 a game from Eddie to win a premiership.

betts was shit, squibbed 2 marks last night, and i can understand him taking a good opponent which helps garlett but he always lets us down when we play top 4 teams and junk time goals

Break it down for us: what quarters, or who was involved. Some of us attended the match so we occasionally miss things when there's a lot of players around the ball.

I thought we should have explored options for a trade at seasons end last year.

He was disappointing last night, but his best is very good.

EXACTLY. He is a junktime specialist. To add a positive spin to this, give him 3 weeks as a bonafide member of the mid rotations as the outside mid (possibly wing). then reasses. needs some confidence to shake off the tag
