I dont think we should hang our heads after this one. There was probably only 10 minutes during the game that I thought we were dominated. A Grand final, a bit of belief and some woeful decisions our way and it is a totally different story. This team is the best in the business both on and of the field and for 90 mintues we served it right up to them. We are not coming any more. we are not stealing WWE taglines. We are the real deal.

PS lay off Gibbs, he will be the best midfielder in the league.

Not on what I saw tonight. Shitting yourself and kicking off the ground rather than put the body on the line was WAP! Was there for all to see. How much time do you give some one to stand up and be counted. Maybe he is just not that kind of player. Also when it counted where was Murphy? Injured?

When it counted in the 2nd, the whole team shut down and we looked like the dark past. Gibbs is one of the best users of the football in the country - kicking off the ground is the whole perceived pressure thing that Collingwood do, and for 10 minutes we all were guilty of it. Also It is not Gibbs edict to go in and under the football with his use of footy he has a different role. I will argue to the day I die that Gibbs is a player that shits himself. He has space and clarity.

All week I didn't expect to win but come game time and it's all I wanted!

As someone who has only listened to radio coverage, what will the general footy public think of our performance? Did we pass the 'genuine contender' test?

no simply because I dont think anyone knew we were playing.

he didn't dazzle or dominate the pies for periods of the game.

so they wont notice us which is fine by me.

im convinced we will be top 4 and have been for about 6 months.

i'll be spewing if we are not.

we still have a lot of improvment in us with a few senior players only so -so, betts, russell, murphy were not at there best.

Garlett is bloody amazing! Just about our best player and he just cuts them up every time.

Watson I thought was just about our best KPP tonight.

Yarran was good.

If we had of scored instead of gifting them one with collins's brain fart right before 3 qtr time, then who knows.

I reckon Gibbs had the better of Pendelbury.

But you can see he has so much more to offer.

Curnow was fantastic, this was a massive test for him against the best team and he was one of our best. Warnock was solid in the ruck, his 2nd efforts were impressive and at times he was causing Jolly to make mistakes. The unfortunate thing was that he didn't have a big impact around the ground.

Disappointed with Murphy in the 2nd half and Betts was well beaten for the second week in a row. He will come good though.

Our defense is just too inexperienced. We need someone like Lake, Fletcher, Tarrant etc to sure it up for us. Jamo did everything he could but he needs another partner to help him out. Watson has potential to be that guy but not for a little while yet.

We would have beaten 13, perhaps 14 other teams tonight but not number 1.

Collins had a shocker. Too may turnovers.

His first 2 possessions were woeful turnovers that resulted in goals, after that he was quite composed and spot on with possession. Could be because the game was already done. Could be he is used to turning over the ball until someone else wins.

shouldn't dwell on umpiring decisions but i am. That free to Blair against Russell is one of the greatest clangers ever and similarly the free to Shaw when he was in Gibbs back and over his should er 35 metres out was just as inept.

The Blair goal killed us - gave them more momentum. what a disgrace.

Cue the umpire apologists who will probably tell you the free count was relatively even. :donk:

You have to question the intelligence of anyone who uses the free kick count as a guide to the quality/fairness of the umpiring.

Mistakes. We made em. They didn't.

Matched them in most areas of the game, didn't cough up excessive redtime goals.

I can't stomach losing to that bunch of criminals. But i can stomach it even less if we turn in a performance against Essendon* next week that resembles the one from last years early rounds.

To lose next week, after showing that in many facets of the game we are headed in the right direction, is unforgivable.

Lose next week and I'll be @#$%&! disgusted.

I traded him for Judd and got Enright for S Buckley. Happy man.

I also thought this was a massive game for him - to get the maximum pressure and still find and deliver football - I am now sold

Hampson/Waite/Walker/ Betts just didn't do enough for mine.

But what realy hurt was the !@#$%& kicking backwards in the backline - it does not work anymore. Maybe one kick every now and then, but that is it!

We need two or three of last years draftees to emerge, that's what we need; the rest is internal or will come down to fate. The only one that has any X-factor in terms of the unfolding of this season is Kreuzer. I'm a bit sick of the lava-lamp like shenanigans that occurs whenever we are deemed not to be quite at full strength.

since round 11 last year collingwoods average winning margin has been 48 points

that is one hell of a stat - 18 games to average 8 goals better than anyone else

Disappointed.....

We just seemed to fumble and be outpositioned at critical moments when we could really have shown the rest of the competiton what we have.

Umps were shocking and certainly cost us at least 2 goals.

Thats the rub of the green when you play the "benchmark" I guess, still I thought we may have pipped them tonight.

not one player from the 2009 ND PSD Rookie draft or trade period played tonight and none look like getting a game or making a impact anytime soon except maybe Hendo

Do you think the Giesch will apologise to us this week?
