I was watching when this was announced. The irony was that the next headline (about the Newton-John cancer centre) read BACKFLIP

Think of their 2 games v Melbourne last year. Play through the middle.
North actually had the right idea in the first qrt last week, playing on at all costs and taking risks.
Our pace and improved disposal will worry them.

According to the Ticketek website, the entire AFL Members has already sold out?!

This is going to be massive...

And Essendon* also had played North and Pt Adel in the first 2 rounds that year!

Wasn't that 2001?

Think the gezman is talking about round 20, 2000 which is still the highest non-Anzac day home and away crowd from memory.

I think when Collingwood unfurl their flag (a clear snub in the face of Carlton) our boys should go out for the ceremony and each and every player should unfurl his own flag.

That would be quite a sight, 22 blue bloods raising their own flag of sorts, should really ruin a calculated ceremony which should for all intensive purposes have happened against North last weekend.

Delayed into Perth & SA. Everywhere else has it on Main Event on Foxtel or some form of channel 7 live.

For all intents and purposes, that would make good TV.

The jury is still well and truly out on whether we are the real deal or not.

Friday night we have an opportunity to show what we've got. Hopefully the whole club grabs it with both hands and we bring our A game. Anything less would be a major disappointment.

To be honest, I don't believe we are at Collingwood's level yet and I'm not expecting to win. That being said, would love nothing more than to spoil the party and announce ourselves to the footy world.

Some really good thinking by lots of posts.

I reckon Gezman has got it right with his line-up and reasoning. White is a goer but boy, his skills are poor and you can see him just taking that split second to think, 'what next?' in contests. It kills you against good oppo.

Agree with Duigan making way too, he's looked dodgy with his handling which I hope is nerves, but this is not the game to find out. Got the feeling they won't drop him though.

It's a huge ask for Watson to mind one of their monsters but hey, he looks the type that could learn a lot and he's a Blue now, these are the kinds of Blockbusters he needs to get used to. Really pleased that his kicking looks as sweet as prophesied.

Liked the idea of Walker on O'brien and making him accountable. I could see that being an excellent battle. Also quite like the idea of trying to get the Thornton/Shaw match up, despite not being a T-bird fan at all, if he has a future with us, it is as a smart forward. One or both of those guys need to really hurt the Pies. Is Collins one too many of those mid-size forwards?

Very worried our backline won't cope with the pressure. We need to win and win well in the middle so that our backs are less likely to be swamped. It's so hard to get the ball out of Collingwood's forward line once it's in.

Quietly optimistic but the Pies are in season wrecking form. Be tough Blues, stick to your guns, you're moving in the right direction.

Odds for this match are interesting.

Blues paying 3.60 for a win or 1.92 for 25 pt handicap.

I rate us 30% chance to win..so the handicap looks like a nice option.

Bring on the new TV rights.

Ch 7 :screwy: :screwy: :screwy:

Do you mean the new TV rights where there is no guaranteed live Friday Night Footy?

FRIDAY night football would be televised live every week for the first time and pay TV operator Foxtel would get to show finals live under a landmark $1 billion deal being negotiated between the big networks and the AFL.
