I think Robbo's bite and toughness around the packs in midfield is a real positive.

Regarding Hammer & Waite, I think the rain (or at least the humidity) had an effect on the turf & the ball, you saw the umpires throwing it up a fair bit and a lot of dropped marks from both teams.

PRO:
Watson: Something about him reminds me of Geoff Southby ... maybe just the long kicking.
Garlett: Superstar in the making ... thank you WH.
Curnow: Hardworking ball getter.
Judd: Probably another 3 votes (even thought I don't think he was best on ground).

CONS:
Hampson: Thought he was a bit down tonight.
White: Average.

I reckon he could have been a bit sore going in....

That's what she said.

Pros
- win in bank
- % booster
- shut up all the pricks who thought the Suns would win
- game was over at 1/4 time
- goal kicking was much better than last week
- JEFFY!
- Tbird needs to stay up forward, that banana goal was tops
- Duigan and Curnow; Curnow a great find
- good solid debut from Watson and will boost his confidence

Cons
- was little more than a training run
- possible warm humid weather and travel impacting on recovery
- Waite did not have a great game - possible concussion hangover?
- Russell was average
- Laidler's !@#$%& up to let them get their first goal was pretty bad
- still struggle to mark in our fwd 50 - cannot take a contested pack mark and on the lead the ball always bounces off the chest or hands
- some silly decision making BUT when playing a bad side you often are not as switched on as you could be

You can only beat who you're playing though. After last week's yips I hope this was a good cobweb blowout. Bring on the Filth.

The commentators were talking crap re Laidler's leap in the air when Dixon ran at him. If you watch the incident again you'll see Laidler's man was in the square and Laidler was trying to cut off a handpass that never came.

Just watched the game again.

A couple of minutes before this incident, virtually the same scenario occurred. Except this was on the wing. Have a look about 15:40 remaining in first q. Dixon has the ball and a head of steam up. Laidler tackles him front-on and drags him down. Ball-up. Fantastic when you consider Dixon outweighs Laidler by about 25 Kgs.

Don't have any concerns about Laidler's courage - he passes that test.

Laidler would be in the low 90s these days, so it's around 10 kilos difference. Still a fantastic effort regardless.

Actually I thought it was poor commentating not to realise that the jump in the air was to cut off a handball that never came. His lunge in mid air looked ungainly, but to state that he jumped out of teh way is totally wrong.

Its one thing to pump up the tyres of a young kid but dont do it by canning the courage of another's especially if that wasnt the case.

Great win, albeit Vs an Under 18's side.

What i liked:-

JUDD's 200th.
My god he's good. Surely has 2 x lots of 3 votes for the brownlow again. Get on him i say!

MURPHY & GIBBS
Stepping up to be more than just co-stars to the Judd Show.

YARRAN
Hopefully he's confidence is high enough to take on Collingwood next week.

WINNG MONEY ON GARLETT
Got $50 for picking him to be the leading goal kicker of the round!!! (would have gotten more if Thornton didn't match it!!!)

What i didn't really like:-

Well, not much really. It's pretty piss-poor if your gonna complain about a 100+ point win!
But we do need to remember we beat a young side who's main stars we're underdone.

That said.............

CARRAZZO
Not sure why he started and Armfield was a sub! Dennis should be starting each and every game!

WHITE
should probably make way for Jamo next week.

MY BROTHER
Had a fully catered private box and i couldn't make it up to watch it with him................ Damn work!

My brother had Jeffy for most goals in a multi, if he snagged the one after his steal, would've won $1200 instead of $600 ($10 bet). And Cloke and Walker matched him, not Thornton.

Yeah, your right. It was Mongo and Walker that matched him. My bad.

Dude,.......... your brother did well. Heartbreaking i know, but still $600 aint bad for a weekends work.

I'm wrapped with my $50 (considering it only cost me $5 to place the bet!)

Might load it all up on the Blues to beat the Pies this weekend...................... :donk: :donk:

Our first quarters have been sensational. Great contested football and slick ball movement.
It was only poor conversion that prevented a huge quarter time lead against Richmond. Let's hope we can continue that trend against the Poys.

Positives? Murphy is showing the value of a pre-season. We had a couple of gimme games whilst Jamo was suspended.
The crowd draws their breath when Yaz takes the ball and runs. Poetry in motion.
Curnow, Judd, good game from Scotland, Mitch is improving his composure. Hammer has loads of potential up forward and the skills of Warnock are vastly under rated etc etc etc.

Negatives? We haven't really had a solid lead up to Fridays game. We're still lacking a small defender to put on the nippy forwards.
