Think basketball folks.Mick has pinched his gameplan from basketball which is basically a full court press. To counteract a full court press you employ a fast break.Simple as that.Leg speed is crucial to this tactic so the three amigo's gotta be on song for us to be in it.I reckon they can do it.I believe we are right in this.

Even if Jamo is back into the team, one of Thornton or Waite has to play down back. Our defense is really raw and they have huge forwards.

imo drop thorton - good game against a weak opposition - NO PASSENGERS!!!

Firstly, Thornton is a good mark (and a good kick from a standing position) against all opposition, not just weak. Thornton deserves to play....switching between back and forward. No need to telegraph to those vermin that we'll play him up forward from the first bounce. Give him instructions to travel between the arcs, defend when we need him and attack when we need him. I'd also give him 5-7 minutes each qtr at FF.

Secondly, I'm hearing that Bower didn't play yesterday. IF THAT'S TRUE, SHOULD NOT COME INTO CONSIDERATION.

Thirdly, Jamo for Duigan/Laidler, Armfield as a running back and White as the sub. White can play F and B and is insurance

Fourth, I Hendo is fully fit, maybe Hendo in and White out with either Thornton or Duigan or Laidler as sub

Fifth, Collins should come under some sort of consideration if there are issue with injuries

GO BLUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's the impossible dream but IF we can wreck their party, MAYBE we'll plant the first seeds of doubt into those flowering f.............ckers (fire truckers)

Nothing is impossible 99....up till now the filth have beaten the same two teams as the West Coast....perspective is everything....I reckon a lot of reigning premiers carry that fear factor into games the following year where opposition teams assume they are beaten before the ball is bounced....bit like Geelong a couple of years back....the filth are very beatable....we just need to believe that....and of course show them not one iota of respect whatsover....

I'm thinking left field a bit and replacing Hammer with Hendo. I think it will offer us more flexibility and enable T-Bird to give us a moving target across half forward to make O'Brien or Maxwell accountable.

Hendo can ruck for 10-15% of time when Warnock needs a rest, but also help Watson and Jamo down back if needed.

Jamo & Collins in

White & ?

Duigan Jamo Laidler

Russell Watto Yarran

Simmo Murph Scotland

Collins Waite Betts

Garlett Thornton Walker

Warnock Judd Gibbs

Hammer Curnow Robbo Carrots/Army

Really good to have tough decisions.
Hendo will be too underdone to play against such a good team.
Collins has performed over the past fortnight and is very skillful by the sounds of things, players with footy smarts and decent disposal are essential.
White was only ever goin to be a fill in.
Dunno who else can be dropped. possibly army or carrots but they havent done alot to deserve it

I wouldn't drop Hammer until Kreuzer comes back. He and Warnock have proven to be dangerous enough that they have to be respected by the opposition.

With a resting ruckman, Waite and Thornton/Hendo in the forward line, both Maxwell and O'Brien are required to show some accountability. Seeing O'Brien on Betts last year was awful. Betts would get sucked in to the stoppage area or alternatively get monstered in the marking contest. That won't happen with a tall. A tall will create more space.

Out: White

Armfield Jamison Laidler
Russell Watson Yarren
Gibbs Curnow Simpson
Walker Waite Gartlett
Hampson Thornton Betts
Warnock Judd Murphy
Scotland Carrazzo Robinson
Sub: Duigen

We need to;
Hold our marks forward of the centre. Still dropped too many against GC.
We need to make sure we use first option and run the lines. Collingwood love the gang tackle, hesitate and they pounce!
We need our forward to keep the defensive pressure on O'Brien & Shaw inparticular. Very important rebounders for the pies.
We need to believe and win the midfield battles. They will not tag Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Curnow, Simpson, etc and will bank on them winning the battle here. Big mistake on there behalf as I think our midfield is as good in the league as any.
Bring it on...really pissed that I'm going to miss this game but I'll be there in spirit baggers!!!
DO IT.

Out White Duigan

I reckon we will need the extra runner against the filth so Duigan is the unlucky omisssion.

Jammo on Dawes
Watson on Cloke
Russell on Didak
Laidler on Steelbottom

Probably just the 1 change, White out for Jamo.

It is really important to keep their Half Back line accountable. We can't have O'Brien on Betts, as he has been the last few games. Maybe Walker on him? Hendo would be a great inclusion, but I'm not sure if he's ready yet, or if they would drop Thornton off Saturday night's performance.

Within 5 goals would be a good effort, but I would love to rain on their parade, like we did in their Centenary match.

Get Armfield to run defenisve pressure on H. Shaw and make that prick accountable.

Carazzo.. gone.

Hendo in and Waite to CHB for this game only.

Jamo for White.

No need to be scared by these wankers. One G. Brown would have intimate inside knowledge of they way they intend to play against all our players and ergo, his feedback will be invaluable.

Leave the Warnonck/Hampson thing as it stands.

Cloke will not hurt us 'much' regardless of who plays on him. Keep Watson on him and Jamo on Dawes.

Dawes is their key up forward. The chop out is going to have to work well and be timed well with each foray forward.

Use Yarran will unfortuantely be put on Krakouer but I would prefer to see him on Didak and make the pistolero accountable. Yaz not Yaz (Yoz) needs to make sure he gets back quickly after his attacking runs.

Whatever happens we cannot.. CANNOT allow Collingwood to do two things.

1/. Play Maxwell loose in our forward line. He MUST have an opponent all night so he can't chop the ball off going in to our F50.

2/. Allow them to set their zone without some opponents anywhere near them.
Their forward press zone starts with all their backline players pushing up and they position themselves in a half-arc of 5 beginning at outer half forward flank, on the point of square, about 1/2 way between centre circle and half forward (for them) and then mirrored on the other flank.
Generally the opposition gets sucked into the play to 'stop goals' (ie. flooding), and ergo we have 18 blokes in defenisve 50 whilst they have only 13. When we get the ball, we will have about 8-9 blokes rush forward but because of the positioning of their wall, we cannot break through or over it, and so the ball gets banged back inside 50 regularly and guess what.. numbers are now 13 - 9 or 10 (and generally with a lot more space for forwards to move to).

We have to ensure that we hold these 5 - 6 outriders (defensive 6) accountable when we break from the backline by making sure they have opponents. This will cause at least a 50-50 when we are on the move from the backline.

I'd keep white and play him where he should be playing off HB

and Travis Cloke is Paul Bower's bitch so if Bower is fit play him

In Jamo - Bower
Out Duigan -Armfield

Duigan played a lot better than White on Saturday, doubt he'll be dropped.

Never realised they were signed off. I’ll be surprised if that’s not written into them.

Harry O is very poor overhead when under the high ball, wouldn't mind occasionally putting it high on top of his head so rather than coming in as third man up he is under the pump and unsure. Have to split their defence, they are all not great one on one but very good collectively. And drag Harry O deep, he can fumble under pressure. A bit of the Rugby League / Gridiron kick high and charge at it (and them) front on may shake them off their predictable game.

And get Gibbs in the middle I don't care how many dinky possessions he gets standing wide of the play. We don't need another Ryan Houlihan, we already have one. Gibbs has great hands and balance and skill. He doesn't have great leg speed. He is never going to receive it, carry it 30 and pinpoint it 50, that's Yarran's job and he can do it very well. Get Gibbs in the middle on Pendlebury, contesting for disputed ball and showing why he is going to be a champion, and is every bit as good as Pendles. Youth is no longer an excuse. He is the second most talented player on our list. We need him to be winning the ball not receiving it.

And Ratts, get back in the coaches box and take control. It is a fashion to sit on the bench, Roosy started it when Longmire was coach in waiting, but not sure why other coaches have followed. At ground level you can only see clearly what is happening 30 metres away, you have no idea of what's going on at either end or on the far side of the ground. The senior coach needs to be seeing it all, not relying on messages from the box to tell him what is happening. If he needs to speak to players he has a telephone, and at ground level most of the time he will be relaying advice from the box as to what to speak to the players about as he can't see clearly what is happening over most of the ground. Get back in the box Ratts and take full control. No one has coached a premiership from the bench since 1967.

The same Carrazzo that shut down Gary Ablett on the weekend?

For mine, Jamo for White. If another change is made, I'd bring in Collins. Lucas was OK on the weekend but doesn't deserve promotion from current form IMO.
As much as I'm not a huge T/Bird fan, his leading, timing and workrate up forward has been excellent. He leads with intelligence and more importantly, offers options in the corridor. Too many of our other forwards take the easy option by leading to the pockets. Instead of leading into the space their opponents concede, they should try increasing their workrate and and dragging their opponents out of the corridor.
Great to see Yazz back in form as well.

On a side note, where is Aaron Joseph? Any chance of him getting a call-up this week?

I think Ratten takes the "Don't change a winning team" ethos very seriously.

Jamo would be a cert this week, I would like to see Lachie back but it's highly unlikely.
