We apply the same pressure and kick straighter we will smash them.

Remember this is the Gold Coast first AFL game, a huge step up from the practice game they play this weekend. We've had our first hit out and will be better for the run.

Let's hope Bower and Henderson come up, Ellard a chance also but for who?

Of course we are going to win, ins not in the script to lose otherwise I wouldnt have outlayed my hard-earned to go watch the boys smash GC

We need to get on top early as they will be quick, need to batter their bodys and make the tackles stick so that they know that they have been tackled

Adrenalin only gets you so far, so the sooner we get it out of their system the easier the game will be for us

But cannot allow for them to get away with a flyer - may be too hard to reel them back in

I agree but it would also be good to give White another run to build his confidence.

Going up on Friday with 5 mates. We staying in the gold coast, is there a shuttle or something to take people from the gold coast to the gabba?

He would've been murdered, and to be frank, it might've cost us the game. Better to warm him up against a newbie, so GC would be a perfect opportunity.

I'll be interested to hear how the ants go today.

Did anybody see the game they won in the NAB cup?

Was there anything to take out of that ?
Or were Sydney just mucking around?

I think our biggest challenge against the Suns is how we stop their attacking defense.

Bock, Kreakour, Harbrow and Brown. I am sure they also have a few exciting youngsters with explosive pace as well.
Our forwards have a lot of hard work to do to try and stop their run.

I saw the game, they had mainly kids playing with most of the senior players missing.
I saw enough to know that in a couple of years they will be playing finals and will probably win a flag in the next 5-6 years.
We cant underestimate them, they have a good midfield with young Swallow a star in the making.
I would bring in Ellard to tag Gazza who is underdone, not sure who to drop at this stage.
It is the unknown that is the worry.

my changes would be:

Watson, Bower and Henderson in.

Thornton, White and Lucas out.

My sub would be Armfield.

Curnow has in a way stolen Ellards spot..

I think Ellard is a automatic inclusion after a impressive pre season, Curnow & Robinson performing against Richmond makes for a interesting selection dilemma. Curnow or Carrazzo will make way for Ellard.

Why would you drop Curnow?

Here's a potential first 22 from one of their BF posters (senior players bolded)

Quote:
FB: Hunt, Coad, Toy
HB: Krakouer, Bock, Brown
C: Swallow, Harris, Harbrow
HF: Brennan, Lock, Stanley
FF: Matera, Dixon, Iles
R: Fraser, Rischitelli, Ablett

I/C: Prestia, Smith, McKenzie,
Sub: Tape

Emg: Weller, Hutchins, Bennell

Based on this, I would expect the following:
- Their midfield is their strength, and they will try to run us off our feet. They won't be able to match us for strength.
- Besides Harris, they don't really have any in-and-under types (unless you count Swallow), so I'd expect Bock and/or Brown (most likely) to provide some muscle in the middle. Brown in particular will try to get under our skin, we have to make sure we don't take this lying down but at the same time do nothing stupid (looking at you Jarrad, if you're playing)
- Harbrow and Brennan to rotate between HB and HF for a bit of dash
- Brown and Fraser to pinch-hit down forward
- Bock and/or Brown to help in the middle with a bit of physicality for their runners to get free
- Basically, they will try to make sure there is a senior player nearby at all times, to get the hard ball or support them to give them space. Their best hope will be if they have space, we can't allow this to happen. We need to keep the game 1on1 as much as possible.
- Ablett will do what Ablett does

Ellard is automatic inclusion for mine and someone has to make way for him. Curnow made a very impressive debut against Richmond but i am not sure whether he can back that up on the hard fast surface of the Gabba. Carrazzo played ok but may a need a run or two at the bullants to regain full fitness. Robinson and Lucas were the other two that would have been line ball selections for Richmond but i would play both of them against the suns.

No way is Ellard and automatic selection. If he is, we are in strife.

It will be very interesting to see how Ablett goes given he hasn't played any practice/preseason games (I think?)

I anticipate they will come out excited but tire easily.

I also anticipate Brown will try and maul one of our little blokes.

Curnow might make an excellent sub if Ellard plays.
Assuming that mid field types are the go as subs?
