McCarthy is doing well in the VFL practice matches by all reports, but he has a lot of bulk to put on so probably won't be seeing senior footy this season.
Bray is in a similar position, and was apparently performing quite well up forward. He might get a few more Bullants games than people were expecting, in spite of his skinny frame.
Twomey, Curnow, McInnes & Carter had turns in Navy Blue throughout the pre-season, and all looked promising. Curnow looks ready to go but will need to lift his conditioning over time; Twomey needs to work on his fitness base a bit more but looks like the next Scotland for us; McInnes is ready to go and just needs to refine his skills, frame and game sense over the next two seasons; Carter will continue to work on the same things as McInnes, with perhaps a little more work on his kicking.
These four could come in and contribute if required, and I think Curnow is a very good chance for round 1.
Then there's Duigan, who will play round 1 and looks good, but again needs to work on his frame a little and his kicking also. Fantastic positioning and attack on the ball thus far, but a little worried about his agility and thus recovery after his first effort at the ball.
