Who takes Riewoldt?

Thornton for mine though I wouldn't mind seeing Watson get a game, just not on Riewoldt.

Thornton with a lot of help from Laidler. If they are determined to play Riewoldt up the ground as reported Andrew Walker could be the other option.

Truly a lame start to season

Quote:
But now look at how the AFL has stuffed up round 1 of the 2011 season. Carlton and Richmond will kick off the season at the MCG in Thursday's opening game. The long-standing rivalry between the Tigers and Blues deserves respect, but this game features an over-hyped, under-performing blue-chip club against a perennial battler that has been a stranger to September for some time.

They're doing everything in their power to set us up for an "CARLTANK EPIC FAIL LULZ", that's for sure.

I pulled up next to a dirty white truck yesterday. Someone had written into the dirt on the side of the truck:

"the blues are dirty cheats"

Had to laugh. Footy's back!!

Was probably a richmond supporter, that's why I've put it here.

Saw an interesting quote from Daniel Conners in The Age today. Reckons Carlton is underestimating the tiggers.

"We'll have a decent crack and catch a few of the boys off guard, I reckon" says Dan.

Here's a tip Dan: if you want to catch people off-guard, don't go warning them four beforehand via the media.

I think we should win this comfortably by 5 goals+, but it wouldn't surprise me if Richmond got close or actually won the game. Jack Riewoldt's a big concern...if he turns it on we could be in trouble. I'm not sure I'd be giving Thornton the role to be honest, Jamison would have been handy for the match-up.

The game could go either way, danger-game for mine, I'm a little nervous.

He's played like one preseason game. If we roll em in the midfield like last time we've got no problems.

Another article in the paper today with Hardwick describing their last practice match as "soul destroying". I smell a rat with all of the comments coming out of Punt Rd about that performance. Sure it may have been bad, but they are clearly hoping that the comments will result in Carlton dropping their guard.

What sucks is that I wouldn't be surprised if they did. A lot like when puff pieces are done about us in the leadup to Essendon* games :banghead:

Sent a comment in for that article:

Jim of Reality wrote:

That is so spectacularly incorrect that I didn't bother reading the rest of the article. Have you watched anything other than Lionel Ritchie in the last 10 Grand Finals? If they're not flogging an old concept, they're clueless.

I think that Carlton are going to open a can of whoop ass on Richmond. The Tigers are underdone and over rated. Even 9th will be an achievement for them this year.

Blues need to make a statement. I expect them to crush Richmond and look forward to the Gold Coast to go 2/2, probably our best start to a season in 10 years.

Blues by 85 points. A one way hiding that will have articles written focusing on the shite-ness of Richmond for the next week instead of the glory of the Blues.

Found a pretty cool statistical preview of our match against Richmond at the link below.

http://www.statzone.com.au/afl/preview/ ... v-richmond

Seems we've won our past five against Richmond by some good margins with Judd, Carrazzo and Scotland all having days out when they take on the Tigers.

God i hope Griggs is playing and we take it too him!!!!

Im expecting at least a 10 goal win and this should be the bare minimum. Anything less would be disappointing!

Saw an article in the Age (only in the paper version) ... D Conners was saying he can't wait for the Tigers to rip Carlton apart on Thursday.

Hmmmm ...

Has Daniel Connors ever ripped anything apart other than his place on the Richmond Senior List?
