Yep, was the Prez at a very special time for the Blues - it was even mooted at one stage that he was going to get the gig as the VFL's President but he wasnt interested.

Interesting read.

Clicked over to the article on David Bell and noticed that the club would like to find a portrait for Henry Bourne Higgins. Shouldn't have too many difficulties there. There's been a couple of biographies written about him.

Because he came in from outside the club, he was able to make a rational decision on the coaching appointment rather than just go with the favourite son. Good call.

Woud have been interetsting if Barassi had agreed and was successful. He may have ended up with 6 or 7 flags as a coach to go with his ?5 as a player.

David Parkin talked about his various interviews and appointments as a coach at Carlton, Hawthorn and elsewhere during a Grand Final Beakfast at the Nightcliff Football Club in Darwin on Saturday morning.

Kouta was a guest speaker as well. The breakfast was packed with Darwin based Blues fans and was compered by ABC sports commentator Charlie King who is an avid Carlton supporter.

David Parkins anecdotes about being "interviewed" by John Elliott to come back to Carlton and another one about an interview with the Sydney Board for their coaching position were most amusing. Anyone else here heard them?

Sydney told him their list had a lot of potential, Elliott told him our was shizened and needed a lot of work.

The Great Man won 6 flags with The Dees.
