Getting really worried about our back line for this game.

Jamison out, Now possibly Bower.

We have to cover Riewoldt, Morton, Possibly Miller and Vickery, Post etc.

I reckon they will stack up the forward line.

Morton always kills us.

There is no way this will be an easy win for us.

We have had too many injuries to key players for my liking.

No need to worry as the ball won't get to their forward line very often.

Dont know about that. Their midfield is not too shabby.

Cotchin, Martin, Grigg etc are not bad.

Fingers crossed anyway. Why the hell do we always get injuries to our key position players?

Also when was the last time we went to the first round with our strongest side ? So frustrating.

Exactly last time we played the Tigers the ball rarely went into their forward line apart from one patch during the third quarter where we fell asleep and let them kick a few goals.

Cmon Grigg is not a bad player. Gets the ball.

He will be fired up against us.

All that I am saying, is that everyone is writing off Richmond thinking it will be an easy win for us.

Remember the second half of last year when we lost the games we should have won.

Just hope we are switched on, not listening to the hype on this match.

We are supposedly "uncompromising" circa 2011; that's the difference between Blues circa 2010 and 2011.
Want proof? Jamison and Ellard suspended.

As for Grigg who has a lot to prove...well put Curnow in the guts and he has even more to prove, and is a ball winner too.

I have no doubt we're going to play to win and we will....and I'm sure we are not going to just sit back and allow the turncoast Grigg an armchair ride; think about that.

What's this about Bower not playing?

Bruised foot Bondi. 2 - 3 weeks as of last night apparently. Doubtful for round 1, probably right through to round 3.

No Judd last year, Waite & Murphy underdone.
2009, 4 debutants all under the age of 20.

Reports that Bower did not attend some guernsey presentation dinner because of a sore foot. Someone saying 2-3 week injury. Can anyone confirm any more ?

7 days out and i must admit people, as much as i am dying for rd1 next week, i'm slowly becoming nervous as more players are joining the "missing for 2-3 weeks" list. No Jamo, Bower, Houla, Kreuz, Brock, maybe Hendo for rd1 - and i'm sure i've missed a few - and i cannot say for certain that we will knock over the yellow and black!

Lets hope our depth shows early with wins over 2 bottom 8 sides, then let the stars slide back in throughout the year and rattle some big sides!

Bower is not the enemy BR. Can you point me in the right direction where the MC suggests he's not good enough or is that your joke?

If you hope to be correct about your thoughts on Bower that's your call; it's not a Carlton friendly position imo.

Now back to reality...he's not listed on the injury list. Drewgirl mentioned her disappointment that Jamo is injured and now she's distressed because it's possibly Bower. Source?

Sorry Blue Rob, but I don't think Bower being injured is very funny...not one bit. He's damn important to us even if you can't see it.
Despite having Bower ahead of White, White limping off last week was also disappointing for me too.

I do not wish any bad on our players.

I didn't want to say this in 2011 but I think we need Thornton. I don't trust White yet and I would prefer to go with experience.
If Bower is out my new back 6 is:

Russell Thornton Laidler
Yarran Watson Duigen

If this is the team you would be tempted to start Russell on Reiwoldt who by all reports will play more up the ground and Vickey, Post/Miller will play close to goal. Let Thornton take one and stick to him and rotate the rest around depending on where the Tigers choose to play Reiwoldt. We don't want a situation where Reiwoldt is one on one with Watson all alone inside 50.

That leaves Laidler on Morton and Duigen on another small/medium forward. Let Yarran play on Nahas and tear him a new one. Our mids need to work hard and help out in defence (Gibbs and Scotland in particular) and Warnock needs to fill the hole as well. We will flood big time.

by the way, could it be that Bower did not attend last night because they feel he is a chance for round 1 so decided to do everything they can to help his recovery? Maybe if he was ruled out of round 1 and 2, he still would have attended what is an important function in a moon boot? Unless those who attended were told point blank, he is out. Just a thought.

Jamison is suspended but not injured, and Bower is injured as that was what was mentioned to those who attended the sponsorship function (which Paul did not).

Thanks jimmae...and congrats on the renaissance of the jimmae...now a Mod.
I love the way the tables turn. Time is a hero.
I noticed you've been really into balance and more opinion than the norm, then I say jimmae in green.
Great choice.....better be.
You're doing a great job thus far...don't try and bite me...right?

Jamo suspended...confirmed. cheers Is it true that Bower is out injured? Moon boot? What? Please someone fill us in...not you Blue Rob.
Right now I'm only in the mood for facts! This is serious.

Like you Swanny, I'd choose TBird ahead of White, but I'm not privy to the decisons the MC makes..and I respect that privilege.

Thornton had 2 main problems

1) Got smashed by the best opposition forwards
2) Kicked sideways up and under and generally moved the ball slower than my grandmother (who is surprisingly nippy for a mature age player) coming out of defence

Richmond do not have the likes of Roughhead, Franklin, Brown, Pavlich, Hall to tear him a new one (Including Riewoldt)

I think he will continue to have issues bringing the ball out of defence, but beggars can't be choosers and if both Bower and Jamo are out we need some experience and a guy we can rely on to take a tall forward. Not ideal but the best we have.

This will be the only time I endorse his selection all season.

Come on bondiblue ... take it easy man ... it was just a joke .. but certainly not about him being injured. As I have said before I would be over the moon if Bower had a good year.

So the reason Casboult has been upgraded?

Watson and Henderson as key backs, Casboult can play forward and changing ruck, Hammer to miss out to add flexibility for a White/Austin/T-Bird type on the bench. Well that's my theory anyway.
