Jamison out suspended, Thornton better forward IMO if he plays, Waite & Henderson forward. Setanta would be the other to choose from and realistic option.
Agree with this.

This so called loading up of 4 talls is way off the mark so not sure what ur issue is ther mate - Watson (195cm) and Bower (192cm) in the key posts. Then there's White (190cm), Laidler (189cm), Russell (188cm), Duigan (186cm). White, Laidler, Russell and Duigan are flankers down back with Yarran the other to go back and play a little smaller.
Duigan won't be able to take smalls, and neither will Russell for the most part. White generally plays tall, and on the odd (i.e. slower) medium forward, and Laidler is more like 191-192 cms and a third tall. A quick forward line would shred that line-up, and the Tiges would definitely target that if we lined up as such. Yarran needs support in the small defender stakes.
I actually think JR can take the smalls, even Duigan but I reckon we'll be a better outfit with Laidler and Duigan across half-back more often than not and I like JR deeper in defence. I dont wanna be too small because the Tiges will play Riewoldt, Vickery (200cm or something) and another tall such as Miller. Thye'll try to stretch us if we go too small. Armfield deep is not a good idea IMO and I prefer him if he plays to be more wing/midfield.

Bower and Russell provide plenty of experience with White, Laidler and Duigan mature types that are great choices IMO. Watson the inexperince football wise but plays with maturity and sureness. I'll back that 6 in thanks.
While White, Laidler & Duigan are definitely competent footballers from a leadership perspective and in terms of their read of the play, they haven't clocked up enough hours to be running our defence with Bower. I have faith in them in the 1-on-1s but when it comes down to zone play and team play, that's a bit of an ask. Armfield would help smooth that over IMO.
yep still dont mind the back six I have with Yarran included for maturity, experience, skills and versatility. Understand what u r saying but feel its ok.

Re Army and Lucas - like them but couldnt find room for them. Are they lock-ins? Nope they're not IMO. Neither provide the inside midfielder role that we require and down on the back flanks/wings there are others ahead of them for mine. Done. Cheers.
Armfield is our best small midfielder and in that line-up, our best tagger too. He is a lock, especially on pre-season form. Lucas is less so, but I think he'd be able to contribute better on pacy mediums/smalls than any of White, Laidler & Duigan, with White being the weakest link at this stage.
Robinson on the bench is one inside bloke too many, hurts our leg speed and possibly our rotations given his still wonky fitness base. From your line-up, I'd drop White for Armfield, and Robinson for Lucas. I'd then consider starting Thornton in defence in place of Watson (although I suspect Henderson won't come up for round 1, so he'll get a go up forward).
Need Robbo if Carrazzo, McLean and ofcourse Ellard cant play. Him out is one inside mid too few abnd is a must. Cant leave it all to Judd.
We'll have to agree to diagree on many of these things.
