Ha, that was a good read Bomba!

The sad part is that its a true story and I never leave before the final siren - even in games we have been flogged by over 100 points!!!

Hands up who left that game versus North Melbourne at Princes Park in the late 80s/early 90s - when we kicked 3 goals deep in time on in the last quarter to snatch the game.

The first and last time i ever left a game early was the Hawks game of 09? we were 25 points downs approaching the 20min mark of the last and i had to run and pick up the missus, so i left. As i got to the car i listened as the blues went bang bang bang and then the mark and post to fev. Fair to say my steering wheel got a belting, first with excitement then with frustration

Yep, I was at that game, Rd 20 1988, a 36 minute last qtr that Justin Madden & Johnston set up the win out of the centre - Gleeson kicked the winner and the siren went. It was as though he kicked the winner and kept running towards the players race and off the ground (Forest Gump like). It was Rhino's debut and he gave off teh handball to Gleeson who kicked the sealer.

I was at that game, behind the goals where the goal was scored.

My memory has Gleeson roving the ball off a dropped kernahan mark - not rhino handballing???

It looks like other memories differ as i was in the pocket in front of the Hawthorn Stand and i am sure Rhino got it off the pack and handballed to Gleeson running past who slotted in from about 15 metres out in front of the Heatley stand.

I'm not saying I'm correct, just can't recall Rhino being involved in that play, I was a massive kernahan fan and remember feeling disapointed that he dropped the mark.

It all blurs into one this far down the track I guess.

He did palm the ball down to Andrew Phillips against Collingwood for the winning goal at Waverley one day, that I do remember! We did win that right? I'm not getting mixed up with round 21 of 1992? I'm tired and confused now.

I need blueseum to sort me out on the Phillips Goal, won't sleep tonight now, surely someone here can remember the goal I'm referring to? Big scoreboard end, pocket/half forward flank opposite side to the members???

Watched it with my North supporting mate. Left three goals down past the 30 minute mark. Mate stayed on to the end. I think the quarter lasted 37 minutes which was a record in my books. My mate
wrote a letter to the AFL complaining about the time keepers.

Learnt my lesson

Certainly remember it.

I'm going to say it was 1989 or 1990 and we won by 6 points.

Big K - i can help you out with the Blueseum bit as a do a bit of work on the site. It was 1989 I think you are talking about, when Phillips kicked the winner.

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... 15%2C+1989

A similar type result in 1991 with Flipper BOG and Sticks kicking 4 goals.

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... 12%2C+1991

PS - you may be right about the 1988 game, I am only saying what I remember from a game that was played 23 years ago. Dont worry, I have been wrong plenty of times before just ask my missus!!!

Yeah i remember this game, I went to most of the games that year as I did my knee playing footy pre-season for my local team and saw nearly every Blues game. It was one of the wettest seasons on record and I remember that they had to dump sand on the ground because of all the mud.

the last time I remember playing Geel at Visy was round 2 2004. Campo was BOG and Norman played a great game. Hulme kicked a great goal and Fev finally got the better of Scarlett.

Anyone remember that game?

I remember it well. I'm pretty sure the Angwin/ Norman incident happened in the days after that game.

So glad that

Hendo and Carrazzo are named in the squad.

It's all coming together.

I don't know how the Herald sun can suggest we are playing almost a full list when the following will be missing from the game:

Warnock (1st ruck)
Murphy (1st rover)
Betts (leading goal kicker)
Kreuzer (top 10 player)
Houlihan (versatile senior player best 22)

there must be others too. But missing from our best team is about 22% of them.

others missing this weekend?

Setanta
Thornton
Ellard
