I have just been on the phone to both the AFL and Carlton regarding ticket sales to this game. The AFL told me that Carlton members do not get an opportunity to purchase before the general public and tickets go on sale next Monday (7th March). She told me to contact Carlton in case they had booked a block of seats so members could sit together, otherwise you just sit wherever. I rang Carlton and they said they had booked a block of 200 tickets but these are for Brisbane based members who can pre purchase them. The AFL told me that we will have no problems at all getting tickets, its just that we will not be seated together.

Looks like Abletts first game of the year will come in round 2 against us. He will be under done but in any case they have some very exciting youngsters that have the ability to beat us. Matera looks something special. Add Swallow, Day, Nicholls, Lynch etc and the 9 experienced players and they are a decent team. The rest are filled up of very talented players who on their day will do damage. This will be no walk in the park.

At the very least we will run through them and overrun them.

Cheers

Blues2005- The AFL have a very limited amount of tickets for AFL members that are not GC club support members to be purchased directly from the AFL.

Herer is the link for the details....

http://www.aflmembership.com.au/home/ne ... fault.aspx

They are Gold B reserve tickets and cost $47 each. Members are able to get 1 ticket + 1 guest pass per membership. Ring 1300722515 to book as they went on sale today....

Just booked mine(10 tickets) about an hour ago so get in quick!!

That pumped!!!

This will be their first real AFL match. Very different from the NAB/pre season matches. We will have commenced the season by beating the Tiges the round before, so will have worked the rustiness of the summer out in a genuine home and away match.

Irrespective of the hype for the Suns, Blues by 7 to 8 goals. At least.

Anyone else want to hazard a guess?

Can see it being fairly tight in the first half and then the Blues coming out after half time to dominate. Either way as long as we are in front at the final siren then I'm happy.

I agree. Someone mentioned when Adelaide joined the comp, and how they smashed Hawthorn, true, but the Suns won't have 50 thousand people waving knitting needles at the ground....

Here are the first games for the interstate clubs;

Sydney 20.17 (137) def Melbourne 16.12 (108)
West Coast 20.13 (133) def Richmond 16.23 (119)
North Melbourne 15.14 (104) lost to Brisbane Bears 19.23 (137)
Adelaide 24.11 (155) def Hawthorn 9.15 (69)
Richmond 12.18 (90) def Fremantle 12.13 (85)
Collingwood 26.10 (166) def Port Adelaide 13.9 (87)

They are a little on the pricey side but if you are flying over then why not get decent seats.....

http://www.ticketmaster.com.au/seatingc ... 5815/37570

AFL didn't know where the allocation they get will be exactly but I guess when you look at those Gold B seats on the chart most are in a good spot.

Have found the Gabba a good stadium to view the action from regardless of seating position in the past.

Just bought 3 tix from my AFL Memberships today. Pricey, but looking forward to it! Hopefully my weekend in Brisbane will be complete with a smashing of the Suns.

I am in the same boat as you, plane, accommodation and also hire car booked. Would be funny to miss out on tickets to the game. I am sure we will get tickets, will post on Monday when i get mine. Hope everyone else posts when they get tickets and where they are sitting. I wont be able to book mine until the afternoon and want to know where other Carlton supporters will be sitting so i can book in the same area.

Also bought three tickets yesterday (Full AFL Member with Carlton Club Support) for $47 each (Gold B Reserve). They told me that the seats would be around the 50m line but couldn't give me anything more specific than that (i.e. what level, row etc.) Did this happen to everyone else?

Kezza, if I dont get them I will try and get them through Spirit of CArlton function which is about $110 (includes pre match function with my hero Ken Sheldon being one of the MC's plus trasnport to and from the ground, finger food, seat at game etc). They only reason I havent got the tix through that is that I am going with some mates and they dont want to outlay anymore $$$$$ after all the intial costs thus far.

I am not a happy camper as a result
