Another silly post I know but i'm fairly bored and can't wait for r1.
I want ppls opinions on a single moment in any game where the crowd has gone completely ballistic.

For me anything pre '01 is a blur and cant really remember before that.
These are my loudest crowd moments.
R6 v Hawks '09. Fevs mark an last minute of game.
R13 v Ess '08. Carrazzo's goal that put us up by a point in the last qtr (lost by 35 but).
GF Wizard Cup v WCE '05. Prendergast's 9 pointer in last qtr
R4 v Coll '08. Griggs goal in last qtr.

My Dad's moments are a lot more respectable.

GF v Rich '72. Wall's goal from boundary line in 2nd qtr.
GF v Coll '70. Jezza's sealer.

I can only imagine what it was like in those days when most of the people who attended the GF were supporters of the two sides.
Looking forward to whats in store this year with increased membership and more satday arvo 2:10 games

Totally agree with you about the R6 match vs Hawks...an amazing moment with everybody in full voice. I also remember everybody standing on their chairs (or at least jumping to their feet. I've never heard a match sound like that...

My 2nd choice would be the end of the 99 Prelim final - fantasic noise from all supporters.

95 or 96 maybe v's WCE: The groan from the WCE supporters, when it looked like Mainwairing had kicked a banana from the boudary with seconds to spare in the last quarter to win the game.

The ball hit the very top of the goal post, never looked like hitting it for the whole time the ball was in the air.

40,000 people screamed "NOOOOOOOOOOOO"

and about 5000 people went YEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

Either Whitnall's goal or Fraser Brown's tackle in the '99 prelim.

95 GF after the siren. But the loudest at the G overall was when Craig Mottram ran second in the 5000 m in the 2006 Comm games. Crowd went nuts in the final stages.

Aside from finals, one that stands out for me was the noise from the Heatley Stand end when Sticks goaled at the death against Hawthorn, Round 3 1993 (the week after the infamous Essendon* drawn game).

My old man is a pretty quiet and calm bloke but even he added to the noise the day magro took Jezza out.

The crowd were pretty noisy and emotional when we came back in the 2nd half to win that game. One of many times when I remember the floor boards in the Gardiner stand getting a real hammering.

From my good mate, who works for the Crows, the loudest he's ever heard the opposition go off, was when Fev kicked that goal v Adelaide.

95 GF, the Carlton crowd were bloody great.

The 99 GF before the game a whole bay chanting "Syd....ney", "Syd....ney" etc to drown out the North Melbourne cheersquad was bloody funny !!

For me it was the Johnston's opening goal of the 1982 GF - it was so quick and its what we needed if we were to win the game.

A older friend of mine who went to the 1970 GF says that he has never heard anything like Jezza's sealer in the 1970 GF. It was the only time that he and most of his mates thought that they were going to win that game. He said the bouncing ball seemed to take forever to bounce through the goals and when it did they were all hugging and started singing the Carlton theme song.

Wizzer Cup when Fev went berserk (2005?) was pretty mad.

Kouta's 2nd goal mouth mark in the 99 prelim represents the only time I've ever seen my old man standing on a seat at the footy. And the crowd cheered my dad's effort louder than anything I'd heard before. Or since.

can't go past the dying minutes of the 99 prelim. I've never heard a crowd (both sets of supporters) just going apeshit with every piece of play. The last two minutes of that game were electric. Everyone was at fever pitch. Mercuri's near miss, Fraser Brown's tackle (has there been a louder cry of 'BALL!!!' ever???) and finally the siren.

From where I was, you couldn't hear the siren such was the noise. It was only that Justin Murphy went piss-bolting with the ball in one hand held aloft that I realised we'd won...

just had look it up... watch this from about the 6.45 minute mark. Still brings a tear to the eye!
