Super Saturday at Flemington.

Poor timing!

This makes up for the GWS debacle. Full dress rehearsal on the cards against what is still a physically hardened Geelong unit.

Saturday afternoon footy at Princes Park, it is going to be like old times.

Now all we need are the random letters associated with the scores of the other five games, the quaddie and the raffle result on the scoreboard.

Dad and I are going to head down, we're really looking forward to it. We couldn't go last night, but we've been the last couple of years when we've played practice matches at the ground.

It'd be a nice little earner for the club, days like yesterday and next Saturday. They get the fans through the gate looking for a bit of nostalgia, sell some pies, some beers, some memberships and some club gear... all the while giving everyone who comes along what they want: the feeling of what it was like to go to a true home ground.

I still remember the old days after the game and you would see stacks of people standing in front of the scoreboard waiting for the final scores from other games to be posted. They had their records out awaiting the outcome. And every now again there would be a cheer if there was an upset or the Pies went down!!

Even during the game. "north's 10 points up on Collingwood", "Fitzroy are 3 points in front of Essendon*" would always get a cheer.
I miss those days and I miss Fitzroy.

I agree about the Fitzroy comment, I grew up in Carlton and had some mates who followed Fitzroy. They seemed to be everyones second team, they were always seen as battlers but were never really good enough to challenge (83 season probably being the exception when they were a bit stiff).

Played 1st half and kicked a few goals. Looked reasonable from all reports.

Pratt stand is now pretty average. Bird shit on the ground, seats & stairs. Noticed a few dead birds in a stairwell too (pity they weren't magpies)

The seats are as bloody hard as well.

Surface of the oval was pretty average as well due to some disease to the turf

My impressions were outside the new section and heritage listing the rest should be demolished.
