Good one jimmae. I like it, but I'm curious.

Why have you selected Curnow? I like him too, but haven't considered him ahead of Robbo, Ellard and the likes.
Same goes with Collins. What's he done that impresses you?

Ellard will give you defensive pressure at stoppages, work for the ball, and will be uncompromising but ultimately is a bit on the thin side of things, Curnow will be able to put a bit of hurt on the opposition and do all the things Ellard does on top of having better pace, though his fitness base might not be as good.

Collins is quicker, fitter and better by foot than Robbo, but perhaps not as ruthless in attack. I think Robbo has a propensity to hurt our play as much as he can help it.

I like your logic. Nothing wrong with what you say at all.

Thanks for the response

curious to see how th e team lines up for the final prac game this week.

Indicators to date suggest that for rd1, curnow (as inside mid vs McLean), Thornton (fill in for Henderson) and Yarran off HBF are likely.

well Jamo is out..

I think Simon White will get a run against Geel and play on someone like Mooney to get him prepared for Reiwoldt. With help from Laidler, I think we can hold Jack. If not White then I think Thornton may be a chance to play down back.

We need Bower to hold Vickery and Russell to do a job on a 3rd tall (maybe Miller). I would like to see Yarran play on Nahas and absolutely smash him up running off him. We then have Morton to worry about and I would love to see Duigen given the job.

Without Jamo, Rich will be tempted to go tall up forward so hopefully our running defenders can carve them up. Maybe Warnock can play 20m infront of Reiwoldt at times.

I am assuming that Jamison, Houlihan, Carrazzo, Ellard and Kruezer won't play and Henderson will.

B: Lucas Thornton Duigan
HB: Yarran Bower Laidler
C: Simpson Russell Gibbs
HF: Garlett Henderson Walker
F: Betts Waite Hampson
Foll: Warnock Judd Murphy
Int: Robinson McLean Armfield Sub: Collins/White

I think McLean will play because Ellard is out. Worries me on the G though.
Still not sure about tall/small as sub. I think with Walker, Waite, Laidler, Duigan in side we can cover tall injuries.
Thornton in for Jamison. If he isnt he has been written off by coaching staff.
Lucas, Yarran and Laidler down back as kicking from defence is vital.
Walker now needs to stand up!
Scotland unlucky, think he might be in but where?

A fully fit list would make it interesting!

I was hoping that would be the case.

I reckon Scotland is ahead of Lucas at this stage of their respective careers, but the MC may go for youth; although I doubt it.

In 2011 we're playing for keeps.

Assuming Jamison, Ellard, McLean, Houlihan, Carrazzo and Kreuzer won't play and that Henderson will. If possible, I'd promote Ed Curnow as he'd be in my 22 for round 1 v the Tiges. I have a feeling Andy Carrazzo will be right to play though.

B: Russell, Watson, White
Hb: Laidler, Bower, Duigan
C: Scotland, Curnow, Gibbs
Hf: Walker, Henderson, Simpson
F: Betts, Waite, Garlett
Foll: Warnock, Judd
Rov: Murphy
I/c: Hampson, Robinson, Yarran
Sub: Collins
Emerg: Armfield, Lucas, Thornton

So you've stripped the defence of most of its experience, loaded up with essentially 4 tall defenders, and left out Lucas & Armfield. On what basis?

I don't. I think Lucas is probably already ahead, or at worst level. Add 22 games to him and come finals time he'll be a long way ahead.

I can't believe the lack of love for Army.

Given what he offers, I'd be surprised if he wasn't a certainty in the minds of the Match Committee.

So the opposition? We obviously have some competition to select against.

Listening to Wayne Campbell tonight on SEN, it would seem they have a number of players in the mix defensively. My best efforts on a side would be:

B: Edwards, Thursfield, Bachelor
HB: Conca, Astbury, Newman
C: Deledio, Martin, Connors
HF: Houli, Reiwoldt, Cotchin
F: Nahas, Vickery, Morton

RCK: Graham, Grigg, Foley

INT: Jackson, Tuck, Rance

SUB: Nason/Griffiths

It looks a handy team on paper, question marks over the forward line though.

Well done Raf.

That gives us some perspective...they're not bad on paper.
We're just better all over the ground.
