It's very short, but always worthwhile remembering a victory over Collingwood.

Is that Tony Barber in amongst it?

Brings back some good memories, how i wish for another premiership as i have almost forgotten how good it feels. I was sitting on the top deck of the old Ponsford Stand in that game, nearly left during the 3rd quarter when we were 4 goals down.
It certainly did look like Tony Barber, good pick up.

Love the way they're all just kicking back against their lockers, enjoying a can and chatting amongst themselves.

I have actually seen a lot more of that footage including parts of the last quarter, in the rooms after the game, on the bus back to teh ground and the speeches at the dinner. It is sensational viewing.

I loved this GF even though i went to the 1979 GF i didnt have a full grasp or appreciate the win. I stood in the standing section smack on the centre of teh ground under teh odl Southern Stand. It was so different back tehn standing as it was 15 - 20 deep in some sections and bloody rowdy with the odd bit of biffo that was usually well and truly sorted out by the time the police got tehre.

Where I was it was 60% Pies, so i was a bit worried but if had been Tigers supporters I woudl ahve been sh#tting my dacks

Great game and an even better result.

Yes its been such a very long time.

No Carlton supporter wants to see Collingwood draw ahead of us.

But it may be that they draw level in cups won.

There always needs to be that extra little bit of motivation to inspire a premiership.

Their win in 2010 will be a bit of a spur for Carlton to win the 17th.

The next Carlton flag is coming soon - This crop of players, but with a different coach.

Tony De Bolfo and myself actually found these tapes in a different area than the others.

These particular tapes were in a little box in a room up in the Elliot stand.

They were much smaller than the other U-matic tapes, so I was not sure what to do with them. It was not until near the end of the entire conversion process that I worked out these tapes could fit in the machine we had.

When I played the first one I could not believe it. The footage is magical, its like you are celebrating the premiership with the players. I had a grin from ear to ear while watching it for the first time and was so excitied I rang Tony straight away to tell him about it even though it was late at night!

There are a couple of hours of footage, so hopefully the club will edit it up and turn it into a DVD, it would sell like hotcakes!

In the new display cabinet I did an edited version about 11 minutes long, 6 minutes of which is this 1981 footage.

Cannot wait to see peoples reactions while watching this video.

The footage you mention would be great to have as part of a membership package, pay a bit extra and you get it

You are not wrong about it being very short. Sneezed the first 2 times I played it and thought my computer was faulty. Caught it 3rd time lucky and boy did Tony Barber have a head of hair on him. Should have given some to the flying doormat. That was backin the old days when the tradition to swap jumpers was on. Who exactly is that sitting in the filth jumper.

Yep Tony Barber - I think Bosustow pinched Barber's scarf and cap and wore it for the rest of the night - I spent some time with Tony Barber that night at Princes Park in the Social Club and in "The Understand" which was the Disco underneath the Gardiner Stand - he (actually we were both hammered) - Shane O'Sullivan took a beer tap from behind the bar and yelled out "who wants a beer" and then proceed to spray everyone" - it was a magical night.

I went back to the club that night as well but hadnt hit my teens so beer was not my go at that stage, left around 12 or 1 in the morning and walked home. My brother and his mates stayed the night, caught up with the next day - they were in a very ordinary condition.

Was it '81 when Lou Richards said he'd eat a bucket of spaghetti in the middle of Lygon St if Carlton beat Collingwood...and so had to live up to the bet, and ended up wearing a fair bit of it thanks to Buzza?

Who found and owns the video?

It's been branded with the Herald-Sun's watermark.

SOC confirmed earlier that it was found by a couple of Carlton people in the Elliott stand, i dont believe CH 7 has any ownership over it. Its a Carlton tape that they will release for sale later this year

Great work SoC - can't wait to see the whole thing.

Isn't it great that we have these website personalities just appear from the ether - The Blueseum, Spirit of Carlton...and that 'GoogleBot' is always here apparently (although I've never read his / her / its posts).

Correct, it was filmed by a Carlton staffer at the time, so CFC can use the footage as they wish.

Still to identify the person who filmed it, Col Kinnear can remember what the person looked like but cannot recall his name.

So if anyone knows the name of the 'short bloke' who helped out around the club in the early eighties and did some filming for the club please let me know.

An infrequent poster on TC called "Bort" may know as he did some video editing for Carlton in the 80's but it might be a little after his time - but it woul dbe worth a shot.
