Really enjoyed a chance to see some of our new and fringe players playing at AFL level against opposition players. Lots of nice little cameos.

Liked what I saw in Duigan and Laidler down back.
Liked what I saw in Kerr up forward.
And some nice flashes of play from Watson, Curnow and Twomey.

Ellard's really backing up his finish to last season. He's been in the better players that last 3 weeks now.
Walker was exciting. But agree he needs to play from in front more often.

Would have been nice to see one of our genuinely big boys stand up and show something in the aerial contests around the ground. I thought Collingwood absolutely monstered us in this part of the game.
I hope Richardson and Brown bring some of the Collingwood insider knowledge to us about blocking and shepherding. Even though Collingwood got pinged a few times, it's an area where they gain a huge advantage.

Good. Better being in the bush, then playing some wankfest shit house rules 20/20 style of game.

Not sure how it is a Twenty20 styled game. We still got to play 2 hours of footy on the weekend. If not for the struggling out of bounds rule, can't see much to complain about really. Definitely no reason to switch over and watch the Brisbane Roar or come on here and crap on about politics last night.

First time I have seen Collingwood live for a few years.
They are like ants swarming around the ball carrier and potential next ball carrier. I thought very few of our players were able to make space at all and of them, Yarran seemed to be the most composed.
Harry O just runs around the ground getting kicks and is bloody good at it.
Thomas has stepped up a level since his early days and is a Vgood player.

Our gameplan will work OK if we maintain kicking skills.
We have to learn to NEVER handball inboard against them because their defensive game plan is based on turnovers in the corridor and we had a a couple of glaring examples of it last Sat.
I thought Watson looked a likely lad and should be included in Rd 1 and any other games we think he can get something out of. If he can kick short as well as long he should be the designated kicker to either go through the zone or over it. Will put defensive coaches through hell trying to work out where to set it up.
Laidler and Duigan are ready made.
Kerr OK against not much.
Lucas went OK.
Davies looks OK. Nice build for a footballer.
Russell looks very strong in the upper body.
Hampson did well and it was notable that Collingwood scored a couple of quick goals when Levi went into the ruck. IMO we have to play two rucks or this can easily happen. Setanta will struggle to get many games.
Levi was a disappointment after his good showing in the Ants GF.
Walker looks at home in the front half. Will take the mark of the year this year or go close.

I didn't take too much heed from the result. Neither team had their A grade team on the park. We might well have won if a couple of kicks had gone through as did a couple of theirs. Shite happens.

One thing is for sure, the Richmond supporters will have another looong year ahead of them.

All in all Blue Beatle and I had a good night out at the footy.

..twenty20 purely for the 2 20min halves.. ..the kick-in last touch boundary rule i guess is needed cos such a short game doesn't want too many boundary stoppages clogging down the clock.. ..i still think there could have been a better arranged schedule instead of these triple header half games thingy.. ..but otherwise just good to have footy back, and us with min. injuries so far..

What it does do is show how many bogans will turn up if there's an offer to get their head on the telly for .1 seconds.
