Anyone want to dissect Ratts elocution in this article. Has he got the message across? Has he explained himself to your liking? Does he sound like and AFL Coach? Did he say good words to you's all(sic)?

And also found this.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/ ... fault.aspx

Any comments on body language, his vocab, posture, eye contact or facial tics.

Regards Cazzesman

I thought he spoke quite well in the interview, sure Ratts' style of delivery is'nt perfect but he was to the point and discussed a range of issues comfortably and with authority.

I think it is important Josh K and others realise that in an interview it is a two way conversation, the questions often need to be well organised and considered in order to get a 'good' answer.....and that is something Ratts cannot control.

Also it is very unfair to compare Malthouse/Bomber and even Clarkson as they all have more experience than Ratts has and as is evident, there is obvious improvement from Ratts and we cannot easily assess where those other coaches were at similar stages in their careers.

On the actual stories, its great to read the progress of Brock, lets hope he has an injury free season and Duigan may prove to be a master stroke from the recruitment team.

Didn't call anyone a rapist during the game then lie about it to the media then take it back with a lame excuse once he's found out to be lying and as such I just can't warm to him. We demand nothing but the most professional at Carlton, isn't this what we employ Swann for?

Interesting to see the following are considered by the club to be in our best 22:
Chris Judd, Matthew Kreuzer, Jeff Garlett, Lachie Henderson, Bret Thornton, Setanta O'hAilpin and Robbie Warnock

I'm not sure on the slight cock of the head; it sends mixed signals. Is he over balanced? Does he have an ear infection? Did someone just talk to him using their question voice?

It's entirely unprofessional.

That was the AFL staff writers, not the club, who wrote that. Chop out Thornton & Setanta at this point in time.

So the club does not get to vet the article before it is published? It's a pretty big call to say who is in the top 22 in a quasi–official capacity as an AFL article. You're correct in that carltonfc.com.au does not say who's in the 22.

Whatever the case, all those blokes played a hell of a lot of senior footy last year.

Maybe the article was changed, as at the time I am reading it is says:

Quote:
Some of the players missing from the game were Chris Judd, Matthew Kreuzer, Lachie Henderson, Setanta O'hAilpin, Robbie Warnock, Jeff Garlett, Bret Thornton and Andrew Collins.

no mention of best 22.

Clearly, Ratten is not taking the season seriously enough. Sign his marching orders now.

If it helps you sleep better at night taking the premise of my posts out of proportion, feel free to. For those who are interested in the essence of my posts from that thread, read JohnM's analysis. He seemingly explains my own contention (and thus my concerns) far more eloquently than I do.

You always take things way out of proportion.

Exactly......if we have to read someone else's opinion/analysis to gain the essence out of what you were "trying" to say maybe you should employ a different approach (...or in fact just employ JohnM  )

@isdonis @lily forgotten you two were the bastion of intelligent posting- can't even recall you even being here. Instead of standing behind big cazz and shouting insults like the smallest most insecure guys in the gang, maybe point out which aspects of my posts you disagree with, formulate your responses and try and win an argument with debate. That's how this forum made it's name and I'm not sure how it's degenerated so badly over ze past 12-18 mths.

So what you're saying is you failed to adequately verbalize your message?

What do you mean by that?

I feel I verbalized my message adequately enough.. I should perhaps dumb it down a bit next time.
