To add to the hypothetical:
If Kernahan had have come over earlier, would it have increased the chances of him leaving to go to the Crows? For arguments sake if Kernahan had added to our chances of success in the early 80's and seen more success, would he have been able to see a completed Carlton career off and better justify a move to Adelaide?
No. Kernahan was bought up as a loyal bloke by his family, and he was always going to be a Glenelg & Carlton man. Several VFL clubs tried to get Kernahan away from Carltons grasp, before he went over, but he told them all that he'd told Carlton he'd go and that's that.
No chance in hell would he have gone to Adelaide. McGuinness & McDermott tried to get him over and took him out for drinks but Sticks out drank them and they couldn't persuade him. The drinking session was instigated by Cornes who is a renowned teetotaller
Sticks is still fiercely loyal to the Blues and is still fiercely loyal to Glenelg & is the Number 1 Ticket Holder for the Bays.
And if he did go to the Crows, I'd probably barrack for them now
Thank @#$%&! he didn't
