Only 24 days to go before the NAB double header.

Between now and then we know we have at least 2 intra club matches which will give our list an opportunity to simulate what we might execute on that night.

Teams (like Carlton) who play games 1 & 3 on the night will have about a one hour break between games, and as a result can have 40 players to choose from for the 2 games. The main reason for this is because players will be more vulnerable to injury after they cool down from the first game of 2 x 20 minute halves. The teams playing 2 consecutive games (which is the case for our opponents on the night) will have a squad of 25 (?) to choose from/play. In other words they are likely to field close to their best teams against us.

There's no doubt we will see most of our list on that evening, so I'm guessing we will have 2 different teams for the evening and I'll give it a shot at selecting 2 even teams to compete against last years bottom team (Richmond) and the premier (Colligwood).

At this stage I can't see Kreuzer, Henderson and Mitchell playing due injury, but I'll assume the rest are available:

VS RICHMOND

B: Armfield White McCarthy
HB: Yarran Austin Duigan

C: Simpson Joseph Lucas
FOLL: Hampson McLean Murphy

HF: Garlett Thornton Collins
F: Houlihan Casboult Ellard

IC: McInnes O'Keefe Curnow Kerr

VS COLLINGWOOD

B: Tuohy Jamison Watson
HB: Russell Bower Twomey

C: Robinson Gibbs Laidler
FOLL: Warnock Judd Carrazzo

HF: Walker Waite Scotland
F: Houlihan o'hAlpin Betts

IC: Davies Dare Cachia Carter

I don't think Bray is ready to mix it against the Big boys.

There may be a few players who will be selected for both games, but I'm expecting it'll be those who didn't see much game time in game 1.

What do you reckon?

My thinking is that you would like the team that plays Richmond to resemble as much as possible the team that will be playing Richmond in Round 1 because of potential knowledge you could gain.
The team against Collingwood would be what's left over.

I disagree, I think you want more of a 2nds team against Rich. They are the ones chasing us and trying to work out how they can win. Why give them that opportunity?

That was my thinking too Swanny.

I might be wrong, but I tried to make the team playing Collingwood the stronger of the 2, and I don't think it really matters whether we win or lose these games imo. we will learn a lot about our list and the form they are in before the real stuff later in March:

Jamo and White as FB's
Austin and Bower as CHB's
Thornton and Waite as CHF's
Casboult and Setanta as FF's
Yarran and Duigan as HBF's...even Twomey and Laidler
Hammer and Warnock as ruckmen

I really couldn't give a stuff about this first round NAB Cup.

I think this 20/20 wannabe format is a joke.

Correct.

Unless you win it.

Good to see some form of footy back.. I like the fact that we will see most of our list play due to the break between games, good cance to see up and coming players under some sort of pressure for a possible glimpse at what we might have.....

To those who are not impressed by the NAB cup were you not happy when Fev kicked 12 in the millinium match??!

Always something to look forward to.

17 Days to go!!

It might be FTA but you aren't ever guaranteed it being on when it's meant to be, and then if it is there will be ads every goal or more. Nightmare.
