Quote:
The dark horse is Perth boy Chris Yarran. He is so shy he barely says a word, even to other boys at camp. His father is serving a lengthy prison sentence and perhaps it is this, or some other sense of insecurity, that keeps him hiding under the peak of his cap. But when he plays footy, he comes alive.

I heard this discussed on SEN this morning, sounds like a good doco. Tues Feb 1 on ABC.

that looks great.

I thought at first it was a Native American name in the tradition of 'two dogs......'

Todays HUN paper has an article on the showing of the film, page 98 Confidential section.
Carlton "rookie" Chris Yarran was the star of the show.
It would be good if any of these journo's had a clue.

It would be fantastic if the program was recorded and "shared amongst friends".

Check the ABC website, they can have recently aired shows available for online viewing a week or two after it has aired.

Its definitely worth checking out.

Excellent insight.

I was shocked to see how much the boy from Smithton had aged from the beginning to the end of the documentry.

I wonder why he aged so much

Just fantastic. What a great insight from every perspective.

After seeing yazz at draft camp, with his injuries and inability to complete most of the testing, and his shy demeanor we were gutsy to take him at pick 6 even with his fantastic talent.

While he was waiting to see if he would get drafted, garlett was in the background.

Also another interesting thing was while yazz was around 16 they showed vision of him at Honda kicking the footy and there was a young kid say 3-4 years old in the backyard with a Carlton jumper.

Also the kid Daniel jago, he did not make it due to attitude, but his coach was trying to talk Carlton into getting him. Anyone know more about this?

There was one part of the show what nearly made me vommit and that was seeing the photo shoot at draft camp with Yarren in a Collingwood jumper

Great insight into Yarran. People on these forums were bagging Yarran in his first year when he went back to Perth because he was homesick. I think people failed to realise how close knit his family was and this documentary gave us all a terrific look at indigenous kids trying to make AFL.
