Goddard's a fantastic player and would love to have him - however given the salary cap issues, I can cop losing him as part of those penalties

Again the mid season draft rule changes that the club meekly accepted is what angers me. No other club would have bent over to the AFL like that and accepted it

rather than grigg, we could have picked up boak, selwood, gumbleton, hansen, reidwoldt, leunberger etc in our line up.

Some people can never get it into thier heads. If John had stayed another six months there would no Carlton Football Club. Period. The period that and what Simon is talking about is correct. There was no way we could have stood up to the AFL. We didn't have the resources or the energy. It sucks but it is true. Many people have a extreme dislike of what Collo had to do. In my opinion he had few if any options. The blunt truth is that he and the board had to do what they did at the time to save the club. It is why I will never crititise him. And it should always be remembered they were fighting a very nasty regard action by the Elliot crew throughout thier tenure.

So we didn't get Goddard, given the events at the time, that is a mere footnote.

And for anyone to have the cheek crititise Simons contribution to club is simply staggering.

I think its wishful thinking that Goddard will ever leave St kilda.
