Am I missing something? Surely it is clear as day that the song is intending to rhyme "send-up" and "end-up"? I know the rest of the song isn't exactly rigorous in the rhyming department but I can't for the life of me see why anyone would doubt that the lyric writer missed the opportunity for this rhyme.

Exciting news for people who are fans of the old style of the Carlton club song.

I have learnt today that some members of Frank Traynor's Jazz Preachers who recorded Smack Fitzgibbon's version of the club song in 1967 will be playing at the Dick Pratt memorial at Princes Park on the 21st.

They will be playing the Carlton club song in the same style as the 1967 Smacka Fitzgibbon version!

Anyone who wants to hear some great music and pay tribute to a Carlton legend get down to the old ground on the 21st.

I'm UP for it.

Is there any other team in the comp apart from us, that, after a victory, sings different words to those that are sung in the recorded song played over the ground before and after the match?

ie 'us' instead of 'up'

In effect, either the recorded song or the one sang by the team is wrong.

Some teams, like North Melbourne for example, may sing additional words (North Melbourne, North Melbourne...), but I'm referring to the official/main song itself.

I know many Richmond fans that sing '...risking head and SKIN' instead of SHIN.

The older Tiger faithful get very annoyed with that.

I am a "send us" man, regardless if the official version is "send up"

I reckon it sounds better, "they like to send us, we keep our ends up"

Ignoring the up/us debate for the moment.

Why don't they just add another verse saying:

"revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night"

and create more conjecture.

What happened to "They don't know what the !@#$%& they're singing about"?

Rarely sing it with great passion these days.

Unlike Richmond, who seriously give it everything.

And as for the 'ends'... :screwy:

Whats with most of our boys acting like flower when they sing the song in the clubrooms after a win??? Most of them stick their fingers in their teamates face and try to poke their eyes out.

Its been bugging me for ages now!!!
