I think the theory might have to do with the black swoosh not showing up on the navy jumper.

Just do it!

You have to give it time before Nike asks for direct involvement in the design of the next clash guernsey...

Then they can take it one step further...

Good design, but Carlton couldn't wear that guernsey with the Nike swoosh in it as it might "clash" with St Kilda, Melbourne and Fremantle if they are sponsored by Nike. Those swooshes are very distracting and make it very difficult to determine which jumper is which....but if you wear a "light" swoosh vs a "dark" swoosh maybe it is ok then.

You know if I had to choose (as it seems supporters don't get a choice anymore) between the options of

1) a swoosh on the cfc monogram (as per diagram above) and a navy blue guersney
2) no swoosh and a powder puff blue guernsey that has nothing to do with carlton's image

I would go option 1.

I feel sick even thinking that, but I think at least you have more of the Carlton guernsey (you are selling out with either option anyway) that way than wearing powder blue....

but the supporters of this pale blue thing state it is only four matches - who cares? right? four matches...it is nothing. but they sell out in every other country in the world, we should sell out too - get with the program, fall in line, do the right thing, sell out too

For those who think the new jumper is fine, at least admit that our CEO is either at worst a liar, or at best two-faced and/or weak, when it comes to this club's honour, tradition and pride.

At least Melbourne who is unveiling their jumper today, bothered to put a presentation forward explaining the design and how they have captured tradition in it.

We get shown up as a professional club one too many times in my opinion.

On top of that they release it to the papers before bothering to explain it to the members first.

Why do we need to admit that about Swanny because your not a fan of the colour?

To each his own. The jumper had to be changed, no use crying about tradition and pride as that has nothing to do with it.

Did you ever feel pride when the likes of O'Reilly, McLaren, Mott etc played in the Navy Blue jumper?

There are four games where we will be wearing that colour out of 22+ games.

Avert your eyes when we play in the light blue to avoid being seen as a weak.

How many pages did the protests against the white guernsey take up?

Whatever; the team wore the white guernsey anyway.........just as they'll wear the pale blue version.

And we'll still be The Mighty Blues.........

The difference is that Melbourne's new jumper is theuir normal jumper, which way more significant then having a new 'away'' jumper that will only be worn 4 times a year... Did Collingwood hold a presser to explain their new away jumper ? No....;

Well for one, he said, 'the honour and pride associated with the club's traditional navy blue jumper was priceless.'

just occurred to me.. the clash strip is worn by the AWAY team in the event that their guernseys are too similar, yes? so won't our baby blue strip always be worn with white shorts?

Starting to think murphs blue shorts are just for promotion...

Watching the NFL early Monday morning, I realised why I hate the away strip so much. It's the @#$%&! shorts

Seriously, the Tennessee Titans wore a 'Baby Blue' jumper with a dark blue stripe down the side. Similar to what we're proposing but they also wore dark pants. It looked ok tbh.

Yep, they wore the white anyway...and Carlton became the "mighty whites".

"And we'll still be the Mighty Blues" - just edited this for accuracy below...

"And we'll still be the Mighty Blues for most matches, and the baby blues for at least four matches..perhaps more if Carlton plays St Kilda,Melbourne or Fremantle in the finals."

Surely Carlton will be forced to wear that guernsey in the finals if one takes for fact that there is a "clash"- then the same principle must apply in finals. But like you say, it doesn't really matter...we are still the "mighty blues"....sometimes....whilst Collingwood are black and white ALL the time.

:?:
I'm assuming the lower-placed team would wear the clash.
