I have always wanted to know what would have happened if all clubs said they were against having an alternate jumper, like they should have.
As for the actual design of an alternate jumper, not sure there. If it's the back of the jumper which is the supposed problem, just change the back.
But no need to introduce a new colour into that design. If we've just accepted what Nike wanted, like some have suggested, that is disgraceful.
We are the Navy Blues.

Well, the AFL say its necessary....so it is. Otherwise given the expanding competition and difficulty in meeting all clubs requests...we'll end up missing a home game against Collingwood, worth $500k to us.

That would be ok for Collingwood, Essendon*, Adelaide etc but clubs like the Kangaroos and Melbourne could never have said they were against it...and sadly, either could we.

You have to live within the realities of the competition and what the AFL want.

So your choice, given we have to have one, would be the blue front / white back as per BrizzyBlue's post earlier in this thread?

No, I say we follow the advice of those who say we should say "we are the NAVY BLUES" and give the AFL the finger. What's the worst that could happen?

Navy front, white back would be a good solution, except there wouldn't be the money in it and NIKE didn't say we could do it

My kids like it, and the white one, better than our Navy one :screwy: :screwy:

If we wore the navy shorts with it, i could probably handle that.

fair point, I need to change my pic, I actually don't hate Nike at all, it's our fault that we were dictated to, shame we had to go with such a horrendous colour.

Life goes on,

But GWS,...........that's another story

The AFL have been propping up Carlton for years and we are no longer in a position of strength when we deal with the AFL. If the AFL say that we need a clash guernsey then we toe the line.

What is it exactly that Nike have done? Apart from maybe suggesting a new clash jumper colour (I really don't know)..what else are they after, are they actually owned by fat Ed and he's secretly trying to destroy us, by forcing a colour change on us?
Have I missed some uber PM on the topic?

I think the theory might have to do with the black swoosh not showing up on the navy jumper.

Just do it!

Heritage jumper.

This one?

Its no different from the back. You could maybe wear yellow socks...I reckon the AFL tells us 'Nice try, but not good enough'.

Pretty sure the AFL would have approved that one Sean. And who knows - perhaps in three years it'll be the clash jumper.

Ideally, the yellow would actually be white. I remember reading on The Blueseum I think it was, that they were white, but then they went through the wash and turned to yellow.

Thats what i thought initially, but the swoosh is white, on the V of the neck. Even on the new clash strip its white on navy on the neck of the jumper.

They didn't exactly 'turn' to yellow - there was yellow (or yoke) chamois underneath the white dye, so when the white wore off - the 'yellow' became visable.

The anti-Sky Blue argument is 138 years old! Because if you want an historical perspective of Carlton and 'Sky Blue' Guernseys, then you have to go back a while to our then Captain, George Kennedy in the Premiership Year of 1873.

Please read... http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... D.+Kennedy

So...the 'Sky Blue Skipper' rides again. We're merely honoring the men who helped shape the club and bringing it into modern context. No point arguing against the 'spin' - this is history...and Carlton does history better than anyone

It's like my ww2 war veteran grandfather said about the flag debate. " I didn't fight for the flag, I fought for my family and the people of this nation!" . I couldn't care if we went shirts Vs skins, I love my team. When I see the great photos of our training sessions posted here, I get excited for the coming season even if there wearing white shirts or yellow shirts. I think it's laughable that collingwood need one of the worlds most used strips ( newcastle, juventus, port adelaide, etc.) to feel passionate about there club. Passion is in your blood, not on your back!
