I agree w/ Collingwood's but Essendon*? NO WAY DO THEY WEAR A CLASH JUMPER. Making your sash a inch wider is not a change. Pretty sure they are been forced to change in '11. As part of the deal to wear their 'Buckle Up' jumper they had to agree to design a new away strip. I think thats right.

Carlton doesn't have 2 colours. Carlton has one colour, Navy Blue, with a white monogram. Big difference.

I dont think it is. When you talk about coming up with a jumper which retains as much of the 'Carlton heritage' as possible i think White becomes a colour (and yes i know its technically a shade, making Collingwood colourless!!!!). Also remember that we have worn yellow on our jumper many, many moons ago but yellow is not officilly listed as one of our colours.

I love the passionate debate but how many people are really going to not renew memberships over this? I bloody hope the answer is 0.

I doubt whether it's good value for the club to promote one poster, or whether he has the cash anyway.

How about Green to promote our claim of been the 'greenest' club in the AFL?

Essendon* have a "clash" guernsey. It has more red in the sash - and good on them for maintaining the integrity of their club.

Meanwhile, Carlton play in white, pink, pale blue and God knows how many colours in the future to satisfy Nike. I know which club I respect more, as they are still using the colours in their guernsey. The AFL can't back peddle on this as they have already said this is an ok clash guernsey for Essendon* - so there is no way you will see Essendon* wearing pink with a white sash or whatever.

I guess at this rate it won't be much longer until the "pale blues" start selling home games to Warnambool or somewhere else like North Melbourne...officially now a 2nd tier team is Carlton. Below the clubs with integrity - Geelong, Essendon*, Richmond, Sydney and Collingwood.

Just to clear up the ''We used to wear orange discussion''.....this is an excerpt from the great Book ''Carlton Football Club 1864-1989'' relating to that subject.

''Carlton players wore all-blue caps from 1871; and some even started wearing matching blue shirts....this move proved to be popular; and some players started wearing blue knickerbockers and long grey stockings; however, the grey stockings were replaced by blue and white hooped ones in 1875.''

''Carlton later added a white yoke to it's guernsey, but because these were made of chamois, they tended to wash to a shade of orange....Carlton gradually abandoned the white yoke, some old photographs showing some players in all navy blue with the white yoke; and the hooped socks were replaced by all navy socks in 1905.''

''Finally; Carlton decided in 1909 to add a monogram to the front of it's guernsey- and it's proudly remained there ever since''.....etc etc.....

It'll make 'em look fat.
At least ours is a nice slimming 'winning' blue.

In that case, can I suggest you go and support a team that suits you better. Clearly, you're not a Carlton supporter. You think you are...maybe you used to be....but the aforementioned paragraphs says it all. You're more than entitled to your opinion - which I'm pretty sure everyone got after you gave it for the 7th time....but let's take a closer look at who you respect more than the Carlton Football Club.

* Essendon*. This club is about to move from their home - in Essendon*, after being there since 1921. This is 2 years after they spent $1.5million (the Fed Gov't tipped in the other $1.5) on a 800,000 litre water storage system underneath the Windy Hill surface. Pardon the pun, but that's money down the drain. They're moving because they can't negotiate with the bowling club next door. History will see this was a bad move, along with other bad moves being made by the hand of a megalomaniac posing as their CEO.

Meanwhile...Carlton are based at Carlton and will be for a long, long time to come.

The Bombers just announced an operating loss of $1.53 million...that's nothing to what it might be next year. The new so-called 'coaching masterminds' of Hird and Thompson are commanding as much as $2 million combined next year. They even lost on the pokies, with gaming revenues down by $505,000...wow. How is that even possible?

But don't let me talk you out of it - you're clearly on the Bombers bandwagon.

To those of you potting Nike - there are at least 2 reasons why you shouldn't. Every single commercial indicator says that to have an clash guensey that contrasts the regular one is good for business. It sells! Selling merchandise is good for business! How many clash jumpers will Essendon* sell? Not many. As far as I'm concerned that's their loss.

The second reason is money. Yep - cold hard cash makes the footy world go 'round. If you don't understand that - then you're living in the 60's. Without it, Carlton doesn't exist...and in order to succeed, we need to make a lot of it. It was only a handful of years ago that we advertised in the Financial Review for sponsors. Nike give us a few hundred thousand every year. Gonna knock that back?

We've won 2 flags in the last 27 years. And in the last 10 we came close to extinction. We have no choice but to move with the times.

I understand you might be a traditionalist. But as a young man once said 'Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.' The footy club is simply heeding his advice. I for one applaud it wholeheartedly.

Great post, agree with it all. EXCEPT this bit ^

Once he married Sarah Jessica Parker, he lost any and every bit of magic he ever had. Can't look at Ferris the same way again, knowing he's willingly shackled himself to that harpie.

No. Refuse to watch anything with her in it.

Even thinking about her makes me feel emotionally violated.

I know a lot of women like her character in SATC. But that character is just about the perfect template for the kind of hideous woman that men instantly feel repulsed by.

Truly awful.
