What a champ!!!

Unfortunately my first memory of number 10 is Brad Shine. It's only gone down hill from there

Would be interested to know if Dylan was even offered his old man's number...and if so if he wanted it. Might step into Coach Ratten's old number 7 for season 2012.

Confirmed. He apparently was offered number 16 and refused it. Fair enough. Disappointing for the romantics, but I'm sure he'll make his own history in another number.

Could someone tell me what's wrong with #10? Apart from John James, Gags Gallagher was a fair player as well.

#10 needs to retired. For the love of God, RETIRE IT!

That said, would be extra special if the young man breaks the trend.

Too true, however, before that we had 3 100 gamers in a row wear #10 (perhaps a record on its own):

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php?page=Guernsey+10

It just needs some fresh love and the allocation to a young star, rather than say a 23 year old recruit?

Reading the Talking Carlton, Big Footy and Carlton Supporters Club forum's, and alot of posters are saying how the Number 10 is cursed.

I believe the Number 24 is the real cursed number. Reason's being:

* Only 3 past Carlton players have played 100 games in the Number 24 and only another 2 past Carlton players have played 50 games in the Number 24.
* Lucas had Number 24 this year and injury cut short his season.
* Stevens had Number 24 before Lucas, and had to retire premature due to a life threatening neck injury.
* Matty Allan had Number 24 before Stevens and only played 140 games over 10 years, an average of just 14 games per year. He also had his fair share of injuries when he had the foot injury, which kept him out for the best part of 2 years.

Looking at the Number 24 of other clubs:

* Croad had to retire premature due to his foot injury
* Burton from Adelaide Crows wore Number 24, and was injured most of the time. If I can recall correctly he had at least 3 Knee Reconstructions.

Don't get me wrong, players in all Numbers get injuries, but the Number 24 seems to have players ending their careers premature due to serious injuries, or missing alot of games throughout their careers.

I forgot that Sean Charles came to the Blues. Hmmmm wonder why!!!

I would expect Ellard to move up to 20 or 7. The numbers are just that, a way to identify the players. They make their own history, i dont believe in curses. Maybe Simon White might move up too. But you would think they would have announced them already. Suprised that Brock changed, but with his poor start to life at the Blues and the opportunity to honour his family i guess makes sense. Really suprised that Kane changed. Not sure why but not a fan of players changing numbers that often.

Really confident about these picks, a good feeling indeed

I don't see a problem with number 10. Of all the numbers handed out it's had the most premierships

I heard Dave Ellard is similar to AJ in that he wants to stick with his number because it reminds him of where he has come from the Rookie list.

Nothing wrong with that at all....

I think Number 10 is about to finally taste some success again!!

Website says that Dylan Buckley was offered 16 by the club but he declined it wanting to forge his own career with a different number.

I like it!!

Looks like he is destined for the vacant Number 7 jumper.

So McLean went from 7 to 14 to honour his family connection.

Can Blueseum list other players that have changed from a low number to a higher one? I imagine it would be a short list!

Bruce Doull did - I think from 4 to 11. He didn't like the attention that came with having a low number from what I recall being so close to Big Nick's locker.

Correct - beat me to it!

Good pickup:

Moved from #4 to #11.
