Maybe it's just a Gen Y versus Gen X thing but seriously, I couldn't care less about the jumper colours, it's the biggest pissing contest going around and probably only started because the filth dug their heels in.

Who gives a shit what colour we are wearing on game day, everyone knows are official colour is Navy Blue, it's ingrained in our song.

Move with the times people, there is only so much value in holding onto tradition stubbornly (see Princes Park as well).

P.S: The jumper looks good IMO.

Yes and sadly that is the world we live in. He who dies with the most toys wins. Didn't say I like it either but I can understand it and on a personal level it won't effect the way I watch the guys play or how much support I give them win, lose or draw. I doubt it will really effect the support you give them either because you are obviously a die hard supporter.

It is noble but the fact is that ultimately heavy things crush you to bits.

I guess this guy knows how to stand up to "heavy things" though?

Image

And this club too - as they still get to wear red and black?

Image

And in history - guys like this knew how to stand up to "heavy things"

But I think you are right, much better to roll over "move with the times", accept everything, know Carlton's place as a middle-tier club, buy Nike products and do as we are told.
We are after all just like communist China as you say - we are just little people without a say in anything. I must be out of time with things if I dare question the status quo.

The club, like many other clubs, is just trying to cultivate and regenerate the supporter base.

Fuddy duddies like me associate Carlton with the navy blue colour, not this, but the younger generation will be around for longer than I will so that's where the marketing focus goes.

Time stands still for no-one.

Yep, "move with the times" - another one who can fall back to the "move with the times" phrase.

If anything is questioned - to stop argument all you have to say is "move with the times" and everyone rolls over and is joined at the hip.

I agree- tradition and what Carlton represents is nothing.

To "move with the times" i suggest they change the carlton song as well - after all...it does sound a bit fuddy duddy. we need something modern and bright sung by guy sebastian (wearing nikes) for the young generation. Maybe Nike can sponser this new song.
It could be called the Carlton/nike song.

"We are the pale blue whites" doof, doof, doof, doof, (this is where Guy Sebastian comes in ) and he does a rap (in his pretending african-american/stevie wonder voice)...there is superstition rising in the air... doof, doof, doof. nike, nike, nike, doof, doof, doof.

The little kiddies will love it....it is bright and colourful and one marketing company say it will appeal to 12 year olds. That is where the money is now...and we can't question any marketing company'sr judgement. We can't go to two or three marketing companies for clarification as marketers are never wrong....they know what sells.

Why is Collingwood the most popular club in the competition amongst all age groups (including the young)if they don't "move with the times" and have gawd-awful clash jumpers as well?

If you think Collingwood are "being faithful to their jumper" and not adopting an alternative jumper, then you've just proved that their spin department is second to none out there.

Wow! you are so right. I never noticed they wore white and black stripes as opposed to black and white stripes. wow! they have a white side panel. If you think I haven't watched any Collingwood matches this year - you would be slightly mistaken.

Oh, and you are then going to point out that the away jumper has one less stripe on it - whoopid dododo de!

just face it - we are far behind Collingwood and this whole god awful clash guernsey is confirmation of it.

As a general watcher/follower of sports around the world I'm not totally against clash strips. I've come to terms with great clubs around the globe embracing an alternate strip, but I've always held the belief that we should not be playing in anything other than our famous Navy Blue jumper unless ALL TEAMS are made to conform.

In saying that, the white jumper we've worn in the last few season was pretty good. Universally praised as the best clash strip in the AFL.

...but sorry, this latest one is garbage. Image

What the hell was the rationale behind adopting a colour that is totally foreign to our tradition? Money? I pray we haven't sold our dignity for a little extra $$$, And I do mean little $$$. I can't see many sales for this rubbish.

I also pray we never @#$%&! wear this against the filth or scum.

Pfft...we had white as a primary colour on our clash guernsey first...

If other teams missed the boat because their club couldn't get their shit together and organise a suitable alternative strip, then tough!

I am slightly confused here. Swann said that we changed because many other teams are now wearing white in their away jumpers. When we play these teams one will be wearing their traditional jumper and only one will be wearing the white one. Its not as if two teams will both wear the away jumper.
the horrible shorts are the real killer, hope we dont wear light blue socks too.

For Swann to make that completely illogical comment.....just proves how low they view the average supporter. Just out of interest I wonder who all these supporters are who they road tested this with? I would have thought the most effectively place was the CFC website. Maybe I missed it. I preferred the white one.

Not sure why the animosity towards Nike. They are after all a sponsor of the club. And a little bit of historical research would tell you that the Carlton theme song didn't come into club culture for quite some time and certainly wasn't sung post-match until well after World War II.

Whilst not everyone's cup of tea - it's for 4 games. 4. I think it'll probably bring a smile to my face seeing the kids running round in it...it certainly stands out - and that's kinda the point. Truth be told, I get more pissed off seeing supporters wear the Navy Blue jumper with the Mayne logo on it. How @#$%&! depressing!

Nor for the horrible Jumper......which is getting worse the more I look at it.

I am Gen Y btw....well,cusp of X&Y....

The White was so much better....we shouldn't have introduced another colour.
