Would have preferred North at the G, and to play them twice. A little bit odd that we don't play them until Round 19.

Filth don't travel until Round 14. They go interstate in Rounds 18, 20 and 23 though - suffer.

Better draw than last year. Happy with the Round 8 bye (wife's birthday) and the Round 23 bye before the Saints in Round 24...a good way to enter the finals.

I think it's much better too. The byes being spread out is good - I think GC have both their byes in the first 10 rounds.

Tough finish to the season...Freo (a), Haw, Bye, St.K. Could lose our last 3 games.

At least 11 night games - including 8 of the first 9! Plus 2 twilight games. I always thought Saturday afternoon was a good time to play footy - we've got 5 of them.

We play 5 home games at the MCG, 3 of which are the blockbusters, which we would play there even if Princes Park was still our home game. So effectively, we play 2 home games at the 'G.

Six at Etihad, 4 interstate teams, makes sense, but if Collingwood can play them ag the 'G, then so can we. Haw and Geel home games at Etihad make no sense, would get 60,000+ at the G.

And not sure that a bye in round 23 followed by St.K in round 24 is a good thing.

Byes in round 8 after third of the season where the team can catch its breath and analyse its performances and then round 23 where it can regroup for its (hopefully) assault on the finals I reckon cannot be under estimated.

Just where you would want them. For a change, thanks AFL.

I love Friday night football! Best start to the weekend if you win, and if you lose you're over it by the time you go back to work on Monday.

That is a dream draw - only 4 interstate -and one against gold coast and one against Port

cant complain with that

Week off round 23 then play Saints in last round could not ask for better preperation for the finals

that provided we havent sacked Ratts and sitting 4- and 18 by then

Great start to the season though, every change to be 4 and 1.

Four interstate trips, including what should be a gimmie against GC, is also good.

2011 TURPS ANALYSIS

Again the AFL has decided to ruin us with a lack of clear cut turpsings watching Carlton.

An unprecedented 10 Midstrength games - 1 Thur night, 5 Fri night, 2 Sat Night, 1 Sun Twilight, 1 Monday
3 Sunday Afternoon full strength games - but no public holiday back up on Monday
4 Interstate 'home turpsings'
1 'Floater' with St. Kilda - will probably end up on Wed morning

That leaves only 4 fully fledged, sat afternoon, melbourne game, full strength wallopings.

Do we have strings to pull to rectify this for 2012?

R2 - v Suns
R4 - v Bombers
R12 - v Swans

Two of our interstate games are on Foxtel, so in my case those will be 'pub turpsings'.

Playing teams like Rich Ess & Melb twice will ensure we will finish in the 8 in 2011. We have 6 wins right there so we only need another 5 wins from 16 games to make the finals.
