Remember Fish's first game against Essendon* in early 2003. Think it was the same night Houlihan ripped out the chainsaw midway through the last.

Fish had kicked 6 goals in the magoos the week before and got the call up.

All the best Fish. If your knees hadnt given way, who knows what may have happened.

Nice one pj. Another fond memory was when he kicked the winning goal against Richmond at the G. mrs camel and I were guests in the old members stand, thanks to 79Vintage. It was also Matty Allen's first game after a long lay off.

Things were desperate back then, and it was a ripping win.

Well played Brad Fisher

But he should have been de-listed after 70 games at most.
He gave me a lot of entertainment in our dark days, and was a great club man, but it's a mark of our progress that we don't need to keep that type of player on the list anymore.

You might look at it as cutting him on 99 games,
or you could look at it as our club getting stronger and the standard lifting higher.

Thanks Brad, good luck for the future.

If anything I think Chris Johnson will be feeling worse right now.
He hasn't had a happy time at Carlton

Ha. I remember being at the Pineapple Hotel that weekend socialising with some "passionate" Lions fans and one of them was saying they felt so bad for Richmond. My response was an incredulous "why???".

Was that when he kicked that really dodgy punt in front of goal against the Tigers?

Probably one of the better pack grabs we've had at this club for some time.

In all, I think given that we got him at Pick 72 in a draft where we got raped in, I think we've done extremely well to get 99 games out of him.

Tough gig this AFL it a shame to see guys barely 20 thrown on the scrap heap

I cant think of any other industry where people are taken in and spat out so quickly it makes you think the system is wrong . You employ an apprentice and you have him for four years and to get rid of him in that time they pratically have to commit murder . AFL kid finishes y12gets drafted then runs like he has never before most develop niggles along the way then at the end of year 2 it see you later son.

a better system would be to have a senoir list of 30-32 and an under 21 competition , If the kid is good enough he can still get selected if he is not up to it it at least gives him 3 years to prove himself in a competition that is more even rather than turning out at preston and manning up on some guy who has been round the traps a bit . the guys older than 21 not selected can always go back to the VFL or WAfl or whatever

I hope the guys delisted all fall on their feet somewhere be it on a footy field or elsewhere and I really hope that the clubs and AFL have prepared them for life after footy - But I doubt it

I think ROK, Anderson and maybe Browne are probably the only ones with any chance of being re-drafted. Subject to medicals, I'd be happy for us to re-draft ROK or rookie him.

Fisher is unlucky not to make 100 games, but then again, he was on our list for 8 years and I think he had a decent go. Played some good games for us, and from all accounts was a good clubman. But if he'd been at another club during that period, I wonder if he would have played as many games as he did? I guess we'll never know. I do think he was lucky to have been on an AFL list at all in 2010...

Anyway, thanks to all our delisted players for their efforts and all the best to them for the future.

I too am surprised by the decision on ROK. I would have thought he has the kind of attributes that merited a little more patience.

FWIW, I thought we should have given Lachie Hill another year or so as well. :yikes:

I said 5 picks; I said the noise was 5 picks; it was 5 picks. ;)

Cannot fault the changes at all, and I suspect ROK & Donaldson will be re-drafted as rookies. We persisted with Anderson & Browne but Anderson has only just returned to his U18 form, while Browne has gone backwards from day 1. With two teams coming into the competition, the opportunity is there for them to carve out a re-birth. Tiller never fired a shot and the rest speak for themselves.

Congratulations to Garlett, White & Ellard on making their way onto the senior list, and congratulations to Dare, Cachia & Casboult for making the cut. If I've got my analysis right, we'll only have the 1 live rookie pick.

Tiller looked bemused during his group interview immediately after being drafted.

Very much a Raso situation.

Tuohy, Dare, Cachia, Casboult = 4.
Add ROK & Donaldson = 2
Should we have MIN two rookie picks, or is there someone else?

Dumb question I know and please pardon my ignorance...but why are Talking Carlton and CarltonSC run separately, was there some sort of breakaway(back in the blue view days?)?

Always wondered why the 2 sites never just merged....would make these forums doubly as worthwhile surely?

Why so much angst about Fisher, plenty of players have joined the 300 club, because the AFL counts Pre-Season, old Night series, interstate and international games to the tally.

I am sure that the Father son rule will need to be tested in the same way.

Fisher has played more than 100 games for Carlton.

Also most players end up having girls and of the Father son rule. Hardly any can actually play.

Anyway if Fisher teaches a son to kick, then we will not be recruiting that kid anyway.

Pretty sure he made his debut in Round 2, 2003 against the Pies from memory. Kicked a late goal in a game we lost but then backed up against Essendon* the following week.

Sorry i'm not 'in the loop' like some of you here but surely you could have dignified my question with a serious response. I just note that Essendon* for example have Bomberblitz as their forum which goes unrivalled but for some reason Carlton forums include TalkingCarlton (which I personally think is the best), CarltonSC and TheBlueView and maybe others I am unaware of.

Wouldn't it make sense to have one superpower forum - strength in numbers?
Or are there some deepseated politics/power struggles/grudges/??? that I am simply unaware of?
Again, pardon the ignorance.
*(Waits for the typical idiotic cynical sarcastic response which is standard procedure here likely to involve a :hitcomputer: or :screwy: or :donk: or :banghead: )*

The short version is that it was all TBV and the Carlton board on BF with CSC in the shadows. Then TBV had a split and TC popped up, with CSC emerging from said shadows shortly after as a haven for the further disgruntled.

There's also been a couple of minor TC splits resulting in small scatterings of posters going to CSC, BF & a fifth site (which prefers to remain anonymous).

And the long version?

Is there some sort of elitism in all of this?

I mean this is just an internet forum talking about the Blues....as if people cannot reconcile their differences?

And yes I love opening pandora boxes
