Just on Brad Fisher- I know there are many of us into the 'romance' side of footy, and we all would have loved to see him get to 100 games. The club were in a position in 2010, especially towards the end of the year, where we couldn't afford to be giving out games based on charity. That's how it's going to be from here on in too if we're to win a premiership any time soon.
It's a shame but that's footy, or at least that's how serious footy clubs work. It's good to see the club didn't cave on the matter.
After round 22 against the Hawks in 2008 I wanted to get rid of Cloke and Fisher because they could not defend in the forwardline because the game got too fast for them.
Fast foward to 2010 and Fisher is still on our list.
In a post after round 15 when we got smacked by the Doggies (nah,,,we got smashed) I was looking forward and looking at an opportunity to play Fisher in 2 games to get him to 100....as a good gesture and message to the young group, because he was playing well, had a great pre season, because of the FS 100 gamme rule and because of our injury list at the time (White, Kreuzer, Austin, McLean, Lucas, Houlihan etc)...plus Fishers form warranted selection.
The 2 obvious games to play him were the 2 games we would most likely lose given our injury and form issues: Collingwood and Geelong.
Fisher was selected against the Pies and we got smashed by 10 goals and that was the end of Fisher. He could have and should have been selected against the Cats after his big haul of goals in the Ants, but nah, only 1 change because of the team being labelled 'soft' by Ratts, Walker OUT and Fisher IN. I bet Ratts lost a lot of people and players that day.
I expected Fisher to be delisted, but don't give me the shit that Fisher wasn't sederved of one more game when our team was playing like a bunch of woosies and when we were up against the Mighty Cats who were in top form and Fisher kicks a Baggaroony.
Ratts had his opportunity.
Ratts thought he might look tough and solid by not picking him...imo
Ratts can wear the consequences.
Tell me..any poster...that there was no room for Fisher to play 1 more game in the last 7 rounds to get him to 100, and I'll tell you that you haven't got a heart, a view to the future (investing in FS) and the value of a good news Carlton story....and you can go and get [REDACTED] too.
I'm glad he's delisted, but I know the club could have made a better effort to let him play 1 more game.
That's all.
