no i dont believe he will in fact im sure he wont be,im saying i think he should.
the club made a mistake plenty have before(woewodin comes to mind)

Cant argue with that analysis!

Why Tiller>? isnt he 18 or 19? and is a tall kid. Takes time to develop

We gave JR how many years to develop

Rhys O'Keeffe (yes, that's the correct spelling) is raring to go for pre-season. You don't cut a player of his talent. Has overcome his back problems, is fit and fingers crossed will play across half-back for Carlton in 2011.

He has so much talent. Remember seeing him go off injured [against Casey IIRC] and was so disapointed, if he can get fit, he'll be fantastic.

Am mates with one of our Rookies sisters [who isn't a footy nut, so she may get some guys confused] but been told Donaldson won't be kept, Casboult will and Tiller and Johnson are both gone.

You'll find that Donaldson has to be kept. He was from WA and all interstate rookies get two years

No; that rule was regarding their contract being enforced for the two years. i.e. we pay him out and it counts in the cap.

I vaguely recall reading what Doc is referring to. Unsure if both are in place now or if it's just the moving costs.

Who needs dissenting players when you have dyspeptic supporters?

whats that supposed to mean?
i dont see what digestion has to do with anything.
whats your problem? cant i have an opinion different to yours or do i have to be
unrealistic like you and say that all our players are stars.
i see players for what they are some champs(captain) others spuds(mclean)
and in future dont get personal,if you disagree make an argument for him instead of trying to use big words. ok fwit(just being personal for the tit for tat thing .u get it?)

Why would I argue with a fool who thinks Mclean will be delisted?

Confusing you was pertinent and to the point.

It's interesting that there's so much support for ROK, and so little for Tiller, considering that ROK has actually played less VFL footy than Tiller in the last 2 years.

I think it's because it's easier to see where ROK will fit into the Carlton side....if he ever gets his body right. There's probably too much expectation around TC for a player who's managed about 10 senior VFL games in 2 years (and he would have had less than 60% TOG in most of those games), but he does look to have some attributes that we are looking for in a small/medium defender - good left foot kick, strong attack on the ball/opponent, can compete overhead. However, it's one thing to have the attributes and another to be good enough to play AFL. I'd suggest he's a fair way off it at the moment. Even if he manages to say injury-free, I reckon he'll play mostly VFL in 2011, but should get a taste of AFL (I'd guess between 6-10 games). He's 20 years of age - so it's not as if he has an AFL level fitness base to draw on - and he's hardly played at all in the last 18 months.

That's not to say I think we should delist him. Ideally, I'd like us to persist with both ROK & Tiller - but I suspect that the cut-throat nature of shortened AFL lists means that at least one of them is gawn....

It's harder to argue for Tiller to be kept, because I'm not sure what his spot will be at AFL level. I doubt he'll ever be a KP player - he's more of a tallish flanker/wingman, but probably lacks the required pace. He's a nice mover though, and he might be a chance in the Rookie Draft.

Hmm ...

I thought that when Johnson played this year ... he did pretty well. Would be surprised if they did not give him one more year.

They wont delist Ohalipin. They need Setanta now as backup for Warnock and Hampson and i believe they will start Ohalipin in the forward line in round 1 2011 thus allowing Waite to move up the ground and play as the linkman off a wing.

We have recruited Laidler to play that half back role as I think the MC are not sure that ROK's body will stand up to it. At best that means ROK may be a second or third option for HBF. Likewise I think Austin has to be a concern as despite all of our hopes and his hard work his body keeps letting him down. The medicos may have a very big say in whether these two boys stay on the list and the MC has to weigh up whether it is worth using two spots for players who physically may not be able to make a full season contribution.

I would like to keep all the kids but unfortunately we can't and with Thornton and O'Hailpin still on the list and in the coaches plans some of the kids have to make way. We have three early picks which I expect we will use and 2 to 3 rookies to be elevated so 5-6 delistings minimum and I believe it has been posted that Anderson has a new contract so most likely Browne Fisher Johnson Tiller Wiggins are the retirements or delistings . That is 5 which means only 3 draft picks and 2 upgrades ( Ellard and Garlett) and I think we need possibly 2 more picks - one for the third round and one for the pre season draft.

Need to axe six to make room for rookie elevations, draft picks and maybe one pre season draft pick.

Rookie elevations - Jeffy & Ellard
Rookies gone - Sauce
[three rookie spots available]
Traded - Grigg
Retired - Wiggins
[equals out rookie elevations]
Incoming - Collins & Laidler

4 picks in national draft
3 picks in rookie draft
1 pre season draft pick [maybe]

minimum delist = 6
maximum delist = 7 [ if taken option on pre season pick]

johnson
anderson
browne
tiller
hadley
fisher

if taking pre season pick [okeefe then re draft as rookie]

So we will only have two rookie selections and one less delist?

Pretty sure you can keep a maximum of 3 rookies on the rookie list (not including international etc).
Garlett will be upgraded, Ellard most likely, and perhaps White. Donaldson already delisted apparently.
So we could potentially keep Dare, Casboult and Cachia on the rookie list, but if we don't elevate white, I think we need to cut one.

*deep breath*

You can retain up to 3 first-year rookies and 1 second-year rookie under current rules. International rookies are outside the regular rookie list and can be retained for up to 3 years (unsure on the maximum size of that list though, but you are allowed to bring 2 in each year?)

Ellard has now had 3 years; Garlett 2 years; the rest are first-year rookies including Tuohy who can be retained without impacting on the other's chances.

Had we not already signed Garlett on a non-rookie deal, he could be retained as a third-year rookie but I dare say we would have lost him to any number of clubs. He's going to be elevated.

Ellard is probably going to be elevated; he'll be delisted if he isn't.

That leaves 3 rookies to be retained from the following list of 5:

Cachia
Casboult
Dare
Donaldson
White

You would think Casboult & White would be a shoe-in at this point. The third spot is very much up for grabs, but we may look to re-draft the unlucky two. I certainly feel Donaldson has a future in the game. Cachia hasn't really impressed since pre-season and still looks like he's running in mud, while Dare won't make it in the AFL as a defender (maybe as a big-bodied mid?).

And that's the rookie list.
