yeah, I think its the apparel and like that is well protected for the big players by the AFL. Things might've changed but i can't imagine Nike letting someone else sell shirts if they could stop it.

Thanks for the heads up Doc, sounds interesting.

Having said that, I suppose the other side of the coin is that I take great comfort in traditional media and don't get much into social media - but I see it's value to a certain demographic..........

In the words of many on here........ traditional media isn't the future and has no upside and is not the way going forward.

That certain demographic, while it probably doesn't include me and possibly not you definitely IS the future "going forward".

So, embrace it now ...... or ignore it at your peril.

(For me, please not one more instance of "We're Carlton, pluck the chicken breast"),

You know those 'Blueseptember' ads they've got going at the moment where they paint famous people's faces blue?

Well, I could be wrong, but I THINK I actually saw two Carlton players in a tv advertisement. Could've knocked me over with a feather.

Interesting how Cwood is moving considering the webite agreement with Telstra.

Mick Malthouse + each player has opened their own websites

extra exposure for sponsors and extra revenue opprtunitues for players with outside activities.
I'm not a fan of bagging those doing things a lilttle better than us.

Plus they can sell the rights to the URLs back to the club for a couple of hundred grand each. :donk:

Another missed opportunity, I would have thought, with the signing of Alan Richardson. It took 2-3 days for anything to appear on the website, and it's hardly what I'd call a strong article.

Given Richardson's status in the wider football world, the club should have made far more mileage out of this. In one of the papers, the only mention made of it, was as a kind of footnote about what's happening at Essendon*. :hitcomputer:

Evidence in point the Essendon* appointment of Brendan McCartney. He's been poached by Essendon*. He's the last piece in the puzzle. Rather than a footnote in some Geelong article about assistant coaches they could afford to lose.

No doubt it's partly the media's love affair with Essendon*. But I'm sure it's partly how the club 'markets' what is happening. There's been no 'fluff' pieces emanating out of the club about the 'super' coaching panel we're putting together.

I think it reflects the number of outspoken Essendon* supporters in the media fold as well as the never-ending push to promote Essendon*, Collingwood, Richmond & Carlton as 'the big four'.

People generally love to hate us, love to laugh at Richmond, love to wank over Eddie and love to wank over Essendon* stalwarts like Lloyd, Hird & Sheedy. The media are slow to change their trend as they generally like to assume they know what the public thinks (aka. the musings of the lemmings) up until reality smacks them in the face.

Essendon*'s "reputation" took a battering this year and they have to promote this kind of stuff to show their theatre-going supporters that they're taking steps in the right direction blah blah blah.

Plus every major newspaper has several Essendon* Kool-Aid drinkers as senior AFL writers.

The Bullants have their own Tumbler page for pics, video and info.

http://northernbullantsfc.tumblr.com/

I guess our agreement with Telstra stop the Blues from creating their own Tumbler page.
