If some of you guys/gals are as fickle in your home lives as you are about Swanny, Stick and Ratts on TC then your families must run and hide when they see you coming.

Good get by the Club  Shit even Josh liked it.

Regards Cazzesman

I'm warming to it. It's a good get on the surface but I'm worried about the clash in styles with Knights and how that works for Ratten and CFC as a whole.

I hope this rumour about Gavin Brown is true...from the outside would appear to tick all the boxes.

On face value, a great get by the blues.

Has a excellent reputation as a developer and will bring a wealth of knowledge from his stints with our rivals in Collingwood Essendon* and the Dogs.

Interesting that he's 'Senior' assistant coach....hmmmmm

Wonder how long he's been contracted for?

The heat's on Ratts. Time to get out of the bunker and learn to work with yr assistants, not freeze them out and play politics. It's your only chance of making your tenure work.

Ratts would be a fool to play politics as one look at Richo's CV suggests his actual qualifications and experience far exceeds Ratts'.

This is a telling appointment by the club.

Interesting....and its good to hear of an off field appointment especially an experienced guy like this....

No poster saw this coming.

So much for "inside knowledge" and "sources" venting bile about the Club :smoking:

Go back a few pages, it was a hint given in a previous post, nothing more.

Great get. Pretty happy with this one. Has a good record in developing the younger players.

Given his aspirations to be senior coach, can anyone give me a reason as to why he's moved around so much? I believe Carlton is now his fourth club? Following on from Geelong, Collingwood and Essendon*.

Just guessing, doors open and close, and Senior coaching jobs don't grow on trees.

How many successful senior coaches haven't moved around apart from favourite sons? A lucky few move around at Senior level, others do it at assistant level.

Each move has been about progression.

I believe he was a skills coach at the Bulldogs, moved to Collingwood to head up development, moved to Essendon* to move into coaching and now to Carlton as an senior assistant coach.

Exactly Rexy. Once a coached is perceived to be a bad coach it is usually the beginning of the end whether correct or not. Ratts knows this and accepts it. His one out is to get this team firing on all cylinders. He has a season to do it and welcomes the challenge.
Fingers crossed he pulls it off. Club champion. I will be barracking for him.

Well played by the club so far.

Going back to the appointment of Jon Barker. Its my understanding that he was the forward coach at Hawthorn - not the forwards coach. The forward coach is the guy who watches the opposition teams about 4 weeks in a row and assesses their structures and tactics and game plan. My cousin (mad Carlton) worked for him in this capacity. The forwards coach looks after the forward line. Confusing eh? the subtle difference of the letter s.

Our forward scout is Brett Munro isn't he?

So none of the clubs he worked for would give him a promotion? [/cynic]

A bit of press from the big paper, which, surprisingly, doesn't start with "FAILED Essendon* coaching candidate..." like the little paper did. :sly:
