Ditto...or last year against Brisbane

Watching the game with Bondi Mattress, was like old times at PP & in the 3rd we made more noise than all the passionless Swans fans on our level. They're a funny lot the Sydney supporters.

They are bloody useless theatre-goers.

One thing I really noticed was the Blues fans getting up and about during the entire game - yelling at umps, yelling at players and generally just getting involved! Swans supporters just sat there only making any noise when they scored a goal. Pathetic.

Kinda pros and cons for yesterdays game, but also for the season as a whole.

Pros:
- Henderson's first half, presents fantastically well, works hard, chases and pressures inside 50 and has a great desire. Don't worry about the few dropped marks.
- Warnock is a player. Was worried we frittered that pick 24 for nothing but he will be a real assert over the coming years.
- Jacobs, we cant trade him. With Kruezer likely to take at least 8 rounds to regain any sort of form after the knee, we need Sauce. Unless we can get J. Trengove who can play a KP and ruck, then keep Sauce. He a great stoppage ruck man.
- Garlett is a gem. at the start i had a worry he was going to be one of those cheap Nth Melbourne foward pocket players, but he s a gem.
- Armfield backs himself and is great, makes mistakes, still learning the game, but has a go.
- Russell has really become a player and is officially the general of the backline.
- Simpson is at another level now, reckon he's our "spiritual" captain.
- Ratts made some good coaching moves yesterday, didn't get smashed in the decision making by Roos as he has in the past.
- Walker, good game, his kicking has always been questionable, but being moved from pillar to post over 7 years has hindered his development as much as his shoulder injuries.
- Waite got his form back quickly after a knee. He's a forward... leave him there.
- Murphy is great when he plays a hard ass inside mid role.
_ Hadley and Ellard did some good dirty work. Brock Mclean will make this role his own next year. Watched him in the ressies and he's a hard ass.
- The second half for Bower and Jamo showed they're early season form of taking the game on.

Cons.

- Bower, Jamo, and Betts have had an awful 2nd half of season. Really affected our results from round 12 onwards. Really need to step up next year.
_ Robinson really didn't add much yesterday or during the year, puts his body in but gets no results for his effort.
- Davies has improved, just dont think we should have been playing a 5 gamer in do or die finals. still think Thornton would have been a better option.

For next year.

- White will be back in defence, think this guy has a future. Not a gun, but solid.
- Mark Austin will be a player, had no pre-season, and missed a lot through the year, 2010 was always a write off for the kid.
- Mclean back will be a bonus. DO NOT write him off.
- Jacobs, must keep him. Gun stoppage ruckman.
- Kruezer is 10 men.
- Kane Lucas will be a gem no doubt.
- Need to trade for a big bodied defender. Would love to try for a Mitch Browne from west coast. Tarrant would be good for a year or two if we got him for chips.
- I think were Ok for forwards.
- Yarran is still waiting to explode. He's not a small forward. Forget that position. He doest have the Garlett nous for that role. People say he doesn't do enough as he only gets 10 touches up forward. He's a midfielder/winger. He just doesn't have the engine yet. he will take another 12 months to get the fitness. when he does watch out.

- My star for next year is Zach Thouhy. I've been reading the training reports from RR and others and have read the impressive write ups. Made a point of getting out to the Bullants games the last 4 weeks. He is great. He's not your normal Irish, who gets the ball but just runs straight and bombs. he reads the game, back himself, is strong, has a beautiful kick and is a great thinker. Watch out for this man. Is a lock for a half back role at some stage next year, no doubt. Unless youve seen him, you have no idea of how good he can be. His rate of improvement has been astronomical.

- Joe Dare also looks the goods for a role in the next 18 months. Looks an Milburn/Mackie type for the years to come.

The effort
The rucks (and we have got 4 of them)
Jordan Russell
Judd - what a quarter of football. Nearly the best I have ever seen.
Jamo's comeback (him and Bower have only played their 50th games this year. Bower was in AA form before injuries. They will be our rocks)
CK95
Getting the missus hooked on the Blues and giggling at her Northern England, non sport background, analysis.
Armfield's subsequent runs after the tackle. Enormous character.

Cons

Despite living in the same post code, missing BondiBlue again....
Poor, poor start
Adele lost a navy blue jumper in the Novotel. Anyone come home with a spare?
5 months until we see the Navy Blue again.
Swans supporters

Jamo, Sauce, Warnock, Russell, Judd's up there with Kouta, Armfield, Murphy, Ellard, Hadley, Gibbs, Scotland.

Con:
The first quarter nearly every time we touched the ball we fumbled, and every time Sydney touched the ball they handled it with poise.

PROS
Huge effort by the Blues
Jacobs
Judd
Murph
JR
Hadley - maybe not the future, but terrific today.
Good season after losing a few good players, fell away in the 2nd half of the year, but redeemed ourselves today

CONS
First ten minutes, 4 goals down. Disastrous start
Waite - can't believe people rate him in the best. Has huge talent he doesn't use enough, if Hendo had Waite's hands and skills he would be a superstar. Waite doesn't get to enough contests, spent the afternoon whingeing to the umps, dropped a crucial uncontested mark and then got a slap over the face and went down like a shot dog while the Swans ran away with it (Army had a bad headclash and he and the Swan got straight back into it)and Waite gave away a stupid off the ball free 100 metres off the ball for a high push - ticky touchwood, but don't do it - we had the ball it was given to the Swans - goal - pretty improtant in a 5 pt game, and don't get me on to the missed shots. For one of our most talented players he lets us down too often still, with too many concentration lapses
Agree with those who question the Gibbs / Goodes match up. Goodes was too big, could have tried Jamo or Bower and made Swans worry about Gibbs. As it was, the Swans could ignore one of our most talented players and Goodes was still very good
AJ - just a scrubber and for a niggly tough guy he occassionally has a look at oncoming traffic rather than the ball and fumbles - second qtr, took his eyes off the ball to see what was coming, fumbled, Swans goal.
Good effort by coaching staff but how come Ratts doesn't have headphones, surely he should be in constant touch with the box. How inefficient is it for him to be relaying messages through Matty Cap? Who is in control of the coaching
Heard us talking about lots of trades - lets not trade for broken down hacks. How about we draft really well and put huge effort into drafting and development

Pros
Judd, goes without saying
Hendo, learning to hold the mark is the easiest part, he already knows where to go to get it.
Had's, first man out when we lose, showed alot today, must be kept for depth.
Ellard, taking a running bounce after his stuff up a minute earlier.
Warnock, a few eating their words.
Sause, a keeper.
Russell, more words to be eaten.

Cons
It's still Judd or bust. Murph is good but he needs to have a Judd type inpact at times.
The Gibbs problem remains, another good backman may enable us to unlock him.

For a long time our side is happy to have the opposition jump us early and we trail along 2,3,or 4 goals behind. From there we either have a run at them and just fall short, or they hold us at that distance and we fight on for an honourable loss. We need to take the game from the opposition, not wait for them to lose it. Perhaps more games under our belt with fix that?
