Just to close the loop on this one just back from sydney and still disappointed not with the effort not with going that far to see them lose but that we were so close and would have been a real chance against the dogs - a bit of luck/ composure may have got us across the line

This was a great finals match and yes we lost but it was what finals are about - we should feel proud at how they played in enemy territory as we know its bloody hard winning finals interstate - just ask hawthorn

We wont as a club be satisfied with our efforts because 8th is not good enough but on the other side of the ledger our young team did us proud today and with an ounce of luck might have pulled it off

I for one are looking forward to 2011 -return of lucas kreuzer and more of yarran -development of our other young players -another big preseason

GO BLUES

Most media 'experts' and AFL club captains didnt even pick us top make the top 8 this year, let alone come pain stakingly close to winning a final.
Even as late as pre game yesterday, most thought we were just making up the numbers in the finals and that Sydney were going to smash us...
Even though the loss hursts like hell, there's no doubting we've mae a lot more progress this yer then last. This quote from Ratts post game says it all:

Quote:
"You look at the season and our progress as a team. No one said we would play finals, we couldn't score, and we have proved a few wrong in that regard. And even today they thought we were just making up the numbers, so to put that effort in, I am really proud of the players, but we have let another opportunity slip by."

Too right Frank. Hope you and the girls had a great time regardless...at least they have now experienced a finals match and have an inkling about what it will be like when we do win one!
