After the first 11 rounds we were 7 - 4 looking pretty and had a couple of big scalps.
Since then we have gone 4 - 8 with the wins coming against 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th. That's what I mean by backwards.
Now you can call me a negative nellie, accuse me of being on drugs or whatever the @#$%&! you want but the facts are there.

We had that one big bad shocking patch after round 11. That can happen to any side. Couldn't complain about the last 5 weeks though. 2 big wins, although against average opposition, a close call against Freo over there then one of the great titantic battles today in Sydney. Last 2 close calls were interstate. Today showed we were at least worthy.

we finished close to where I thought we would - but I was expecting a worse first half of the season and a better result in the last 6 rounds.

The real learning will come when people start to think about what is needed to take the next step - and they realise that we have the players - but it is a matter of how they are coached.

You're not on drugs nor are you negative. Facts are that we overachieved in the first 11 rounds. FANTASTIC. Instead of using this as an impetus to have a good 2nd half (say 5-6 wins) against lower opposition, we go and self destruct and just beat 4 of the lowest ranked teams. The second half of the year was reprehensible. Yes we have gone backwards cause we didn't take our chances (Nth Freo Haw Bull Swans).
And the Fev argument is a load of shit. Bottom line is that Fev and Judd carried Carl through 08 and 09. How many All Austr do we have??? Once again today, Judd could've got us over the line and the cracks would've been papered over again. Ratts did not do enough to develop a fwd line that wasn't relying so much on Fev.
And to those who say that we are a 7th -8th side, my question is, "maybe we are a 4th -5th side, but the games that are being served up by the current coaching/development staff make us a 7th -8th side

It seemed that the moment Kruezer went down along with White and the Maclean injury we struggled

It's ok to say we missed Fev I don't have an issue with that but the player we missed the most this year and still no one has stepped up is Nick Stevens

we missed his on field leadership and he was the quality mid that we needed all year

Hope they keep all the rucks and turn Kruez into a mobile ruck rover type similar to Goodes

Need to rethink the forward structure and teach Waite to keep his elbows in

he needs a full season playing forward

Yeah we did... but on a positive we still made the finals and great to see we got rid of some flower like Thornton and Fev. Maybe next year we'll be better

We had a great start to the season, shithouse patch midseason and tracked at where we thought we'd be at in the last part of the season.

Losing the experience and ability of Fev and Stevens did hurt.

2010 was always going to be a transition year.

Couldn't have put it better!

A bit more Perspective & less Kneejerking is in order.

Relative to how we were sitting after round 11 it's been very disappointing. On the other hand, since the Collingwood game we have fought back very well as a club. As missnaut said, this year was all about transition. Next year is the real test for us.
