He was at the bottom of every pack, last man up with a Sydney player, awesome effort for his limited experience at this level.

Ellard would be in the best players for mine. We need more guys with his determination and heart.

Eddie had a shocker. If someone does not pull him aside over summer and get him to work on his set kicking for goal.....then we are a joke. Lack of development in this club is why we cannot break into the top four.

Eddie has been a passenger for the last half of the season.

Let's be honest.

Does he try? yes. Does he mix it up when the ball isn't coming to him? Yes.

But we need more from him.
He was an absolute passenger and with Yarran dropped, I really think that Eddie's lack of impact was one of the top factors that cost us the game.

Gets paid too much to go missing for 6 games in a row.

Am amazed we got so close playing in Sydney, with the umpire that screws us every time.

Still, second prize is a bucket of turds.

Hope the boys are much less nicer next year.

We still need to learn that when you get an opportunity you GRAB IT and hold onto it!!!!

And I flowering hate that the last game I watch this year was against those red and white bores.

And I have to wait at least another year for a Blues final in Melbourne.

Will someone get Hendo some flower gloves..
How many times did he get his hands to the ball for it to just bounce off?

QFT.

Such a great effort from him this year, and he is making great strides, but FFS he needs someone to take him aside and coach him and get his confidence sky high.
Not Lappin. Someone useful.

Was very mad, angry, disenchanted...threatened to give the game away...then went for a long walk when the siren went.

Conclusion...we had our chances...when you have as many forward entries as we did (20) without scoring a goal - you're your own worst enemy...we couldn't put scoreboard pressure on the Swans which would have forced a change in their tactics. Never had that 2-3 goal buffer which we should have early in the last.

Heartbroken, Shattered...but already looking forward. Far from disgraced.

I'm not going to praise anyone. Losing is unacceptable for us. Betts and Waite lost us the game. Betts has done sfa for the past two months. Can't hold a mark to save himself. And waites two missed gls were gimmes, mentally choked under pressure. We need a new defense. Bower n jamo don't deserve to be walk up starts. Defence is paper thin. Need it totally re-modelled. And robbo Just not enough polish. Should trade betts. Garlett n yazz are better do betts becomes surplus to our needs. Amazing two of our most experienced in betts n Waite cost us the game.

Waite cost us the game????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on VB, get real.

+2, you can't be serious about the Waite comment, you might as well throw in Judd's 2 misses.

So so true. We will be making a massive mistake if we trade Jacobs and keep Hampson.

6 goal turnaround.

amongst other things, WE REALLY NEED TO WORK ON OUR SKILLS over summer: kicking. handballing (too many go to the feet of teammates). picking up the ball cleanly.

very disappointing.
i would expect EVERY player, to play EVERY match, EVERY quarter next year with the eye of the tiger.

Kicking for goal was not great,
but the thing that really stuck out to me was our fumbling.
Has happened all season long:

1. We fumble in the clinches when Top 4 teams bulletpass through congestion and WILL their way to clearances
2. We tackle like Betty White with vaseline covering our hands

Also as per 17th's comments above our handball skills are bottom 12.

I dont think the current coaching/development panel seem to be up to the task of helping our players skills.

No one lost us the game it is a team sport just not there yet but not that far away need to be active in trade week and to get what we need to fill a couple of small holes in our defence.

Similar, can't remember being this gutted.

Sick of going close.

Time we learned to play 4 quarters and take our chances. Enough is enough.

Also time the umpires were made accountable. Enough is enough.

Yep today really threw out the trade Jacobs plan. At the moment is way ahead of Hampson, but I still love Hammers freakish athleticism and potential. Keep them all for another year, particularly with MK coming off a knee reco?

Henderson will be a very good player in a couple of years. The important thing at this stage is that he gets to the contests, he knows where to go (which is no mean feat in a team that doesn't have a defined game plan going forward). He will learn to hold his marks. He needs to learn how to use his body when playing in front prop before theball comes, stick his bum out and take the ball out in front of him. Impossible to spoil. He also need to learn to take responsibility for kicking goals.

I worry about Robinson, skills are suss and doesn't have a football brain.

Inexcusable first 15 minutes...how can you not turn up to play in a final??

I have no doubt that if Roos was coaching Carlton and Ratten coaching Sydney, the result would have been different. The Carlton coaching department has a long way to go.

The cold hard facts - we lost 8 out of our last 12 games, and the only 4 games we won were against the 4 bottom teams.

Gutted.

Agree. Ratts is not getting the best out of his players. Roos gets every ounce of talent out of his..as does Mick Shithouse. Lets hope Laidley is interested in working with Ratts next year. According to Shithouse, best matchday tactician going round. Enough with the excuses. We will be on a par with Melbourne next year.

Quite simply that was the one that got away. Hendo's inability to hold the most basic of overhead marks, time and time again, lost us the game. Waite, and even the champ Juddy also chances to bury them. Once they got a sniff, they were always going to win.

Betts a total liability. 4 month's in that Richmond Gym over the pre-season ?

Pretty !@#$%& shattered, especially to lose to those red and white pricks.

We only have ourselves to blame really. I have no problem with Armfield's holding the ball as at least he was taking the game on and busting his gut.

We lost the game in our forward line by not capitalising on the scoreboard when we had the momentum. If Henderson had held some of those marks that he got his hands to.. If Simmo had kicked straight.. Waite had a chance early in the last to kick the goal for us to start kicking away with the momentum - and of course he missed. From that point on the game had a terribly familiar feel - as someone else pointed out - we simply aren't sharp and we don't win such close games. We lack the key individual in the forward line who can stand up and impose themselves on the game, capitalise on the dominance of our midfield and drag us over the line.

And Sydney, what a bunch of !@#$%&. Adam Goodes has to be the most infuriating wanker in the game. How he can continually pick up the ball in congestion, get tacked and drop it at his feet is astounding.

And to the rest of the football world - !@#$%& YOU!! NOBODY rated us a chance to win this game, even though our recent form has been strong. Even at half time old limp-wristed Brucey asked the panel whether Sydney had a good chance versus the Bulldogs the next week. When we were in front and the swans didn't even look like firing a shot, I was thinking that this is our opportunity to stick it up the football world who wrote us off at the start of the year, wrote us off for this game - but I think deep down I think I knew that inexorably, inevitably, this was going to happen.

Bring on 2011.

!@#$%&!!!

I agree - we needed to put much more pressure on the scoreboard, especially in that key period where we evened up and went ahead - we had them by the psychological short and curlies, and we flowered around with it. We just dont know how to put teams away

So disappointed on so many levels. I gotta say ellard was a liability in this game. Waite WTF missing three easy goals. Hendo those missed marks, last mark he took should have gone and had a shot.

Another narrow loss in finals, I saw this coming.

We lack composure :banghead:
