I'm more worried about our list and player development than losing our first final when we were only making up the numbers in the first place.....

I fully expected this result.

Agree VB our defence is shaky. Jamo and Bower can play but hopelessly out of form and totally lacking confidence in second half of season. Disagree about Robbo. Hard as nails. Need a feral at the base of packs. Makes up for our general lack of defensive pressure. Eddie missing again, what to do.

Overall verdict: FAIL 2010
Once again Roos > Ratten

Mitch Robinson's had more passes to Sydney players than Bolton.
Good effort but didn't put them away.
Gutted - second Elim Final in a row where we couldn't buy a goal in the last.
JR actually kept us in it in the 2nd - I thought that our backline really stood up after quarter time. -

Judd, Jacobs, Hadley - hold your heads up high... all played a great game.

The rest of them - flowering passengers!!!

One good quarter will NEVER win you a final - premiership third quarter my @rse!!

Might strike it lucky and get our first final in Adelaide or Perth next year!

6 goal turnaround.

amongst other things, WE REALLY NEED TO WORK ON OUR SKILLS over summer: kicking. handballing (too many go to the feet of teammates). picking up the ball cleanly.

very disappointing.
i would expect EVERY player, to play EVERY match, EVERY quarter next year with the eye of the tiger.

We do not have the coach who will make them play with the eye of the tiger.

Yes ELLARD was a liability. Have a good look at the game. In the final qtr in critical times of the game got run down a few times, also just kicked blindly in the forward line.

I am pretty pissed off right now, so I better say no more.

Gutted but it is what it is.
Sydney had about the same amount of misses and posters as we did.

The first 8minutes of the game were we 4 goals down was the let down, too many big matches this year blown out of the game from the start.
We played catch up footy in the first qrt, 2nd qrt and 3rd we managed to overun Sydney but spent too many petrol tickets doing so.

Players keep trying and trying, all you can ask, they need to improve if they want to go further into September because currently we are just a 7th/8th team.

He was at the bottom of every pack, last man up with a Sydney player, awesome effort for his limited experience at this level.

Pretty @#$%&! shattered, especially to lose to those red and white pricks.

We only have ourselves to blame really. I have no problem with Armfield's holding the ball as at least he was taking the game on and busting his gut.

We lost the game in our forward line by not capitalising on the scoreboard when we had the momentum. If Henderson had held some of those marks that he got his hands to.. If Simmo had kicked straight.. Waite had a chance early in the last to kick the goal for us to start kicking away with the momentum - and of course he missed. From that point on the game had a terribly familiar feel - as someone else pointed out - we simply aren't sharp and we don't win such close games. We lack the key individual in the forward line who can stand up and impose themselves on the game, capitalise on the dominance of our midfield and drag us over the line.

And Sydney, what a bunch of flowers. Adam Goodes has to be the most infuriating wanker in the game. How he can continually pick up the ball in congestion, get tacked and drop it at his feet is astounding.

And to the rest of the football world - @#$%&! YOU!! NOBODY rated us a chance to win this game, even though our recent form has been strong. Even at half time old limp-wristed Brucey asked the panel whether Sydney had a good chance versus the Bulldogs the next week. When we were in front and the swans didn't even look like firing a shot, I was thinking that this is our opportunity to stick it up the football world who wrote us off at the start of the year, wrote us off for this game - but I think deep down I think I knew that inexorably, inevitably, this was going to happen.

Bring on 2011.

@#$%&!!!!

Very proud of the boys, at half time I thought it was going to be a hiding, this isn't the time for a witch hunt.

Like many teams that have been down for a long time they lacked belief when it was there to be won, didn't know how to win it.

No excuses next year, prelim. or else. I hope the off season sees 'em in the gym on the weights big time, some kicking practice wouldn't hurt either.

The last two years Eddie has faded badly in the second half of the year. We need to be aggressive in the trade period.

Let's make some smart decisions. Let's build a better backline.

Kruezer, Hoops, Lucas, Yarran, White, Mclean out of this team. The future is still bright but this is such a f^&ken dark day!!!

ultimately in the end it was a little bit more experience, a little bit more poise, a litte bit stronger in the tackle ... that was the difference.

im gutted we lost, but i couldnt be happier with the effort put in, walker may have saved his career at the blues!! after that i think he could become another marking option for us up forward.

judd's third quarter was oustanding, murphy was class all game, thought we did well in the ruck, Mr 206 up forward looked good and despite Army's mistake late in the quarter, the mindset he had afterwards to still attack the game, i thought was oustanding. to not go in his shell, was simply superb.

its all about moving forward for carlton, and this year, IMO, without Fevola, we have taken the next step. We still have a long way to go, and with some tweaking to our structures, another pre-season and a little bit stronger, a little bit more experience and a little bit more poise who knows what could happen next year.

How many times did he get his hands to the ball for it to just bounce off?

Not strong enough in the shoulders and arms yet, so when his arm or shoulder is jarred by contact, he loses grip on the ball. That will disappear from his game naturally.
.

Don't agree. He's dropping them without contact. There's plenty of much slighter players who have sticky hands. I think it's more of a mindset thing. I'm sure he'll get passed this soon, hurt us today though

Get off the drugs ffs.

Which tall forward won them the game?

whatever 'snip', the first quarter cost us and the backline was at fault.

We only have ourselves to blame. 20 inside 50's without a score .... this is a tell tale sign of a sloppy team. Wayne Hughes struggles to see the value of a players first point of contact with the ball because I see alot of players that it takes two goes to get the ball. Two goes to get the ball gives an opponent time to close you down.

Henderson has invented the art of dropping the ball after he has actually caught it. For me that dropped mark two metres out cost us the game. It would have put us 15 up and firing.

I don't think I saw Betts have an actual scoring shot.

Looking forward to pre season already !

We were shit early but turned it around

Yes, Im really excited by Ratten's 4 th preseason cause the evidence for all round improvement is compelling

Henderson will be a very good player in a couple of years. The important thing at this stage is that he gets to the contests, he knows where to go (which is no mean feat in a team that doesn't have a defined game plan going forward). He will learn to hold his marks. He needs to learn how to use his body when playing in front prop before theball comes, stick his bum out and take the ball out in front of him. Impossible to spoil. He also need to learn to take responsibility for kicking goals.

I worry about Robinson, skills are suss and doesn't have a football brain.

Inexcusable first 15 minutes...how can you not turn up to play in a final??

I have no doubt that if Roos was coaching Carlton and Ratten coaching Sydney, the result would have been different. The Carlton coaching department has a long way to go.

The cold hard facts - we lost 8 out of our last 12 games, and the only 4 games we won were against the 4 bottom teams.

Gutted.
