Where the Recruiting Staff answer questions about players and types of players we may be targeting (without giving too much away).

From memory, I think this was mooted at the session on Monday night.

Oh goodness, surely not.

Last thing they need is for some wannabe recruiter telling them they have to take Talia or Panos with pick 12.

I'd like to see them take more ideas on marketing, memberships etc.

It's simply a panel of the recruiting staff who will provide detail and show vision of the top prospects.

It's not an episode of Insight on SBS.

Yeah, and who'll be asking the questions?

Supporters who think they're the next Scott Clayton.

Have a look at the sack Ratten threads if you want a sample of the way a Q&A session would work.

I realise there are contractual issues, but the biggest improvement opportunity for the club is to settle on a home base for game days.

Then they can develop a specific atmosphere and game day experience for fans.

While I don't have kids, I would imagine some themed family style days at suitable times during the season may also be good as well, they should be working hard to maximise the number of fans coming to Visy Park - and not just over summer. They may already do this?? I guess when I ahve kdis I'll find out

Different membership types could also be an option, they seem to work for other clubs.

I'm sure there are ways they could increase player access to fans via social media, in a 'controlled' environment. Tweet ups, etc etc.

Who's been speaking out of turn, Doc? That's confidential information, there. If that gets out to the press, all hell will break loose.

There was an idea floating around a few years ago to do with this. From what I recall, it was suggested that we can use Visy Park as the venue on matchdays when we play interstate.. You know, have a couple of big screens out on the ground, Captain Carlton there for the kiddies , maybe a raffle or some crap like that.... You know, the whole family friendly environment thing...

Top Idea!!
and why not incorporate some Lygon st treats as well...get little food and coffee stands... in a cross promotion deal.
you know like...Brunetti's heart CFC..pizza slices, gelati...whatever.
That is assuming the cafe wouldn't be open if it was at nite?
Then you could have a raffle..and some comps like who kicks first goal..closest to the winning score...will Harry Potter get traded from Richmond etc.

As an interstate supporter that would like to be a member but can't justify the dollars for full memberships as I only get the opportunity to go to Melb a couple of times a year and not always when we are playing a special discounte interstate membership package would be great

You mean like the 5 game Long Distance Membership for only around $120; that we already have, and have had for years?

Or the 3 game membership that was introduced this season?

Looks as though the 'Ideas for Carlton' page has been hijacked by a couple of Jewish comedians, flower who don't read the questions properly and people who want us to play at 'Vizy' and 'Princess Park'. Perhaps they forgot they need to edit these things - otherwise it makes the place look very unprofessional. :Ian Coutts: :banghead:

I opened up the page, watched the video, and glanced at the zeitgeist/poll.

Good idea, rubbish execution. @#$%&! off Ian Coutts.

Meanwhile, somewhere else at TC...

It's not only the play ground but actually workplaces.

I have recently been visiting another worksite for my company and wearing my Carlton lappel (the thing that goes around your neck) and the number of people coming up to me declaring their support of the mighty blue baggers was surprising.

An idea I have had is to have a CFC/Navy Blue day. We pick a day and for that day you wear a CFC item, jumper, tee shirt, hat what ever. It would be interesting to see the number of people wearing the navy blue. And with the TC members from all over the world, we could make it an international day

These sort of things have a reasonable tie-in with social media promotion.... sort of an underground, unofficial club event.

Christ knows how you would measure the success or otherwise... :?

That's the thing re social media... its best work is done when its left alone. The Facebook pages and Twitter updates are great for instant interaction, but they're still a contrived (perhaps lacking the appropriate term here) word-of-mouth promotion.

You really want fans to become ambassadors, but at the same time feed your best info to the more, um, socially acceptable among them.

the responses on that site are a typical reflection of the lowest common denominator football fan and a fine example of why the club doesnt give a massive shit about fan feedback

95% of fans are brain dead morons
