Very impressive Sean, well done. Would love for you to get it up.
Our clothing merchandise range generally falls far short of some other teams, eg Collingwood.

Back to the gym for me for some shoulder and back work so JESAULENKO would fit.

Please mock one up for me and make my day

And how about, Est. 1864?

I like the Est. 1864. That would be a great addition.

Three points I'd like to make

1. The idea is a great one, innovative (from an AFL perspective) and given our navy blue colour they'd look great. You should be able to do T-shirts, polos and hoodies...hell, even scarves and beanies in the same format...or would that be overkill?

2. The only thing I'm not wild about is names on the back. Maybe a key componant of them and it wouldn't differentiate between Nicholls and Williams without the names, but its never been a part of our game. I'm not dead against them, if they stay then I agee with John, go for surnames rather than nicknames

3. Would the club even be allowed to poduce its own range of merchandise? I know the AFL is all over it and probably have some clause that merchandise can only conform to certain formats.

Great work though sean

Does that mean we won't have an away strip or that we'll have something different?

I'll leave it for Swanny to go through the details at the AGM. It's bound to come up again. But as I understand it - the away top won't be white.

I think t-shirts with pockets went out in the 80s.

Hmmmn, I think that was the last time I went out.

I'm a big fan of telling anyone about 1864. A must.

Also a fan of surnames on the back, especially nowdays that racism has been controlled. No nicknames please.

I think the CFC logo and the club's name maybe owned by the AFL.
You see scarfs sold at $2 shops with Blues on them, but not the name Carlton.
I seem to remember a senario years ago that if some clubs broke away to form a new competiton they couldn't use their present names or logos as they all owned by the AFL.

Correct. The AFL owns all AFL logos, club logos and other intellectual property associated with the AFL competition. It also has intellectual property rights that ensure the appropriate use of AFL images. Under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, players have rights to their image and name and must be consulted over its use. So if the club was to go with this concept, they'd have to get the a'OK from the past players as well as current. A company can develop its own concept in advertising, but the AFL examines the materials for approval every step of the way.

Nice work.
I was under the impression that if anybody wanted to introduce a new product, all they had to do was get it AFL approved and start selling it. Obviously some money is involved (royalties probably) but if you have the startup and the balls, I reckon you could sell the concept. I'll have one for starters. #2 NICHOLLS

I would imagine an enterprising soul could circumvent the AFL's rigid IP policies by using names of retired players and their numbers, but no logos etc. Actually, it would be interesting to see what version of "CFC" monogram the AFL actually has protection over. You'd presume it would go back to the latter years of the VFL, but how much further would be interesting to know.

The beauty of our playing jumpers are that a simple navy t-shirt with white lettering would get the point across without needing the "official" monogram, although sean's initial idea would be the best option if possible.

I agree with the nickname thing, I see merit in having a nickname on there, but think the purity of it is better if it's their actual name. As most nicknames are a term of affection it could be done, but I think it better if its not.

"Jezza" and "Kouta" are probably exceptions, though.

As far as supporter wear goes I think the shirts are a pretty solid idea. As I said, names and new releases could be determined by a vote on the website, they could run for a period of time making them limited editions. Captains, Premiership Heroes etc could be the name of the game.

Might get some suggestive looks from the same sex coming my way if I wear the "Soapy" shirt huh?

I like the concept, but I'd like to see us also go for the full-on baseball pinstripe sort of thing as well. The game's becoming more Americanised anyway, so why not point the merchandising that way?

Something like this, reversed and with the CFC logo on it.

Love the footy t shirts, but a big no to the baseball look!

It's AFL not American crap

True, but this is where merchandising for sport in this country has been heading, whether we like it or not.
