Oh, I was about 30 rows in front of the Olympic flame in 2000 to watch a juiced up Marion Jones "win" gold. Even that wasn't too bad.

But gezman's comments about sterility are pretty accurate. But in this day and age of shared multi-use stadia ANZ is hardly alone there. The only thing that makes the MCG any different, for example, is the fact the site has history, even though none of the current stands really do. The character has been taken away. I love the MCG, but let's not pretend the 2010 version is something its not.

The SCG is probably one of the best grounds left in terms of atmosphere and character.

I'm assuming that's a return ticket?

Yeah and does that cover PT from anywhere? Even the rip off airport line?

i've got to admit being to young to experience the Hill at the SCG, I really enjoyed the atmosphere at the pre season game in Blacktown this year.

it was nice sitting on grass, with families on rugs and camping chairs rather than an all seater stadium.

I still think the G has a pretty good atmosphere. Can also feel a bit empty though unless you get 50K plus.

i've been twice.

I thought it felt very sterile and fake to be honest.

it's hard being in such a big stadium when it feels empty.

the first game was wiz cup so only 6000 people. next was 2003 round 1, about 35,000. still felt empty.

have a feeling this is going to get a pretty good turn out, and being a final hopefully the atmosphere goes up a few levels.

from memory it seems a pretty shallow stadium, so if you are in row z you are miles and mile away unlike the dome or G where the stands are a bit steeper.

Never been there but the socceroos qualifier and the Cathy Freeman gold medal run came across loud on TV. A stadium's atmosphere is only as good as what's on show.

Camel, how did you get your tickets at $65, Ticketek has Carlton Member prices at $75.

That's a very good point.

I was at the Socceroos qualifier and that was one of the best atmosphere's as any sporting event I have ever been to. Although, to be fair, there were times where it was a bit flat during the preceding 120 minutes. But when Aloisi nailed that penalty the crowd erupted and it was just an amazing show of emotion around the ground collectively and individually with nearby supporters.

I just clicked buy best tickets available, but you should be able to choose from all price categories; just toggle the yellow headings for each category.

It's obviously a marketing ploy to have the most expensive ticket prices immediately on show so that it appears they are the only tickets you can buy.

Ticketek site is interesting (to say the least...)

Wanted to buy Standard tickets. Put in my bar code with a gap in the numbers but no Standards avaiable. Then put bar code in no gap and they were available.

Got Area 145, in the forward pocket, not too high up hopefully.

I think the worst seats at ANZ are high up in the corners of the Eastern and Western stands (imaginative names they are)

Free travel will definitely be return Central / Homebush. Not sure from the airport. You might be able to get away with it. It is the one thing that Sydernee does well with events, free public transport.

Check on www.131500.com.au as the week goes on. There is nothing on there yet, but it will be up later in the week.

CK95, you mentioned the Brewery at the Novotel. The club have been contacted about doing something out there, but from experience, that will be hard to do with the crowd and the way the Brewery is set up. Just way to many people to worry about setting an area aside. Other than the Brewery, i think the only other place is Macca's....

GO BLUES !!!!!

Yes, you need to add the word "Great" in front of it if you want it to be any good.

Further research tells me that airport stations are exempt and you need to purchase a gate pass ($18 return) just to get in and out of the airport stations.

How much would a taxi cost roughly from the airport to the stadium?

Dad and I will be about 3 rows behind you Camel. Was overseas for the final last year so may be just a little excited. We are on the 715pm flight home too. Sounds like it will be an empty plane if none of us make it!

Got my ticket same section row 38. Hopefully will be full of Bluebaggers.

Got ticket online after trying a couple of calls to ticketek.
They were a disaster.
First call the guy, very nice, but had no idea. Put us on hold twice before accidentally cutting us off.
Second call, another guy kept apologising for the system being slow.Put me on hold, and after waiting a good 10-15mins I hung up and bought ticket online.

There is a pre game function for everybody.....it is free.

It will be in a room at the novotel that is pretty much at the train station.

Carlton will be providing past players and injured current players to speak.

Being free, no food or drink will be provided but you can buy stuff at the bar and bistro.

I think a merchandise stand will be there but don't quote me on that.

There will be a general email to members later in the week with details and it will be on the website.

I will post more when I know more myself
