Walker in to tag Goodes? Has the tank, is 190cm and might be able to hurt him the other way?

He has at least been called upon to play as a tagger in the past

After his stellar final quarter tagging effort on Daniel Rich in the EF last year - I think he should play elsewhere.

Mike Sheahan did an article on the finals today and talked about the top 7 and then went on to mention Melbourne and North lol.

Boo-fucking-hoo, suck it up Sydney. You can't rely on handouts and concessions from the AFL and then complain if you get a few that you don't like.

We could always play at the Lake Oval. @#$%&! pretenders!

Doesn't that suggest that all season they get an advantage in their home games then?
Maybe they shouldn't even be there then?
Cats have a tidy record at Kardina Park too, should the Saints go there Friday night?

I SAW THAT. Typical Sheahan.

And Swans - suck it up. You don't have to travel interstate.

And that CFC is still the best.

Looks like the New York Yankees logo. Has a real strength to it.

Don't mind giving Walker first crack at Goodes, with Gibbs second choice if Walker can't manage.

Ellard could be a good option for Jack - has he got the tank?

Hadley is a must. We're a better team with him in the side, plain and simple.

If we win our share of contested ball and clearances, we will kill this mob when we spread.

Swans to recall trio but Bradshaw to wait
http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/ ... fault.aspx

Hannebery and Kennelly were always going to play this week.

Carrazzo injury may open door for McLean
http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/ ... fault.aspx

Would McLean be ready???

Walk's confidence is shot. Can't afford to have him playing on one of their best players.

I don't remember this flog talking about this in relation to St Kilda last year who finished top and played Collingwood week 1 at the G (Pies home ground) v ES (Saints home ground)

His whole argument is that Sydney is more likely to win at the SCG so thats where they should play.
So Sydney barely play at Homebush more than carlton according to him. I'd love to know the numbers and what he classifies as barely.

This media obsession with Sydney is sickening. I think if carlton wins and denies Kirk and Roos a victory in their last game in Sydney, the media will storm the ground anf hurt someone as a pack.

On the radio Roos has indicated that Mumford will be back for this final.
The suggestion was that he was still a couple of weeks away

Going by Ratten Today;

IN: Jacobs, Thornton, Hadley, McLean ( Carrots)
OUT: Hampson, Davies, Robinson

I'd play Scotland as defensive forward
Did well last quarter on Friday
Smarter than Robbo
similar role to Rhys Shaw versus us

We need to decide the matchups not let swans dictate

Its a matter of the players at your disposal. Who matches up to Goodes? Gibbs has done well on him in the past but he is just to valuable in a run with role. Grigg is deceptively strong, tall, and quick. Just hasn't got too much footy nous yet.

The other option is Bower in a run with role. Considering he is not in great form at the moment that may not be a bad idea either. Get him into the play and with his dash will exhaust Goodes.

Grigg has no footy nous yet you want to play Bower on Goodes?

Sydney have played there 3 times this year and lost all three.

I think Carlton have played at ANZ only 3 times in total.

Armfield on Jack?

I certainly harbour a hope that Dennis gets into the midfield rotation in a year or two.

I see them as similar in some respects.

Jack was a 2005 rookie draft pick, whereas Army was drafted in 2007 (41).

Prior to this year Jack was onsidered a negating type of player, and had apparently little upside in this observers eyes (other than attack on the ball, and an appetite for the contest).

He has had two more preseasons than Army and played 22 more games.

If he can have the kind of break out year that Jack has had this year it would be great for CFC.

On ANZ where there is more space our advantage might be to run, get the ball in the open. Try and stop the Swans from closing it up. We need to make some changes after a very disappointing loss to a very inexperienced Freeo. TBird has to come in. From all reports he has been best in the Ants over the last month. He is needed in defence despite his deficienies. Bower is struggling and we need to keep him away from the last line. Jamo has gone into his shell and gives nothing offensively. Where has the Jamo of the Saints game got to I wonder? I'd bring in Walks and use him more mid or in attack. He seems to have lost form but he still has talent. I'd keep Yarran, merely because of his skill level. I can't believe we'd consider McLean. If we do it will place enormous pressure on him, and if he performs well that would be huge kudos, but he hasn't played for about ten weeks so I think he would be a liability especially on the bigger ground. Robbo had an ordinary night but I do love his mad-doggism - necessary in finals. I don't share the coaches regard for AJ, a battler who seems to be struggling this year. He did okay on Ballantyne, but Ballantyne was carrying a foot injury that will keep him out till next year and AJ had a poor last qtr - handballing to no one, passing 15 metres under no pressure to a team mates feet, passing a floater so Freeo could spoil and then conceding a point that made the game unwinnable and undrawable. They have Jetta who is a Jett and the hypen guy who is seems smart rather than quick. I would play Armfield on Jetta and Russell on the hyphen, have Bower at half back and TBird their deeper tall.

I'd go out AJ (I know it won't happen), Carrazzo (inj - despite assurances a guy doesn't sit on the bench all game with a hammy and come back the next week, can't afford to be one down again this week) and I'd bring in Tbird and Walks. I'd like Setanta in form as the third forward tall, but he is only in average form and didn't play in the 2s, so it would be a risk.

No idea who to play on Goodes. Maybe Gibbs, but Goodes would beat him in the air, maybe a challenge for Walks, maybe Janno if they play Goodes deep in attack. If Goodes is on he will be hard to stop, maybe we try and win the contested ball and stop supply. If he uis deep, we have two athletic rucks, they need to get down there and make it hard for him, and TBird in the past has been a good third man up. We need him to rediscover that.

I can't believe they rate McLean above Hadley.

Hadley has more finals experience and has played reasonable football in recent weeks...McLean hasn't played
for yonks.

Either way, I can't see Carlton beating the Swannies. We need 4 goals from someone - Waite, Garlett...someone..for starters. Their defensive players are great kicks too. That Grundy is underated.
Swans by at least 50 points sorry to say.

A couple of points.

1. This is a final where tackling and pressure increases. Walker can't tackle, we all agree this is his current fault, so why would we bring him back to play, and to play on Goodes, of whom breaks even the best tacklers efforts?

2. Jack wins his own ball, in the packs. IMO Ellard or AJ is perfect, I can't see Armfield on Jack in the midfield. Armfield will be needed on Jetta.
