IMO Jacobs needs to come in for Hammer. Jacobs is in form, is a far superior tap, takes a great grab and can kick a goal when he gets within range. Hammer needs more time but was probably worthwhile trying on the big ground in Perth.
Thornton must come in for Davies. Davies has gone well, but with the two senior defenders down on form, the back 6 desperately need a mature head and I believe having T-Bird as 3rd man up, lending support would raise Bower and Jamo's confidence no end. He knows when to zone off, takes the relieving mark and could free Gibbs to move higher up the ground or to play a role on Goodes.
Yarran was poor last night, with 2 of the 3 amigos playing poorly, bring in Hadley to cope with the stoppage game ... horses for courses. We have enough quality outside runners in the team.
Then if Carrazzo doesn't come up, bring in Walks to play his role.
THE GREAT THING ABOUT THIS WEEKEND'S CHALLENGE IS THAT WE DO HAVE SOME OPTIONS IN THE ABSENSE OF SOME OF OUR STARS.
Missing from our best line up (IMO) Kruezer Houlihan Carrazzo Lucas. They can all be covered for this finals game against the Swans
Players like Thornton Walker Jacobs Setanta Anderson Hadley McLean are no slouches to bring in if in form.
There will not be that many changes either.
Would like to see Walker come in and prove a point. Perhaps to replace Carrazzo. Out of form Betts will survive the chop.
Thornton should replace Davies for this final. It's do or die. No room for learning this weekend.
Jamo and Bower are really out of form and will need the support of another experienced player.
Would like to see a hard nut like Hadley or McLean in the middle against the Swans. We'll need at least one of them.
I expect Grigg to survive the chop too, despite his appalling foot skills because his hardness at the ball is needed against the Swans.
I doubt Fisher will play his 100th game for Carlton this weekend.
