Pros:

Our fight back
Murphy ... buzzing about
Warnock ... might have been beaten but wasn't thrashed. Getting there.
Simmo ... terrific gut running to work us back into the game.
Gartlett ... pound for pound is probably one of our best acquisitions for a long time.

Cons:

From 27 seconds to go in the first to the first 90 seconds of the second we conceded 3 goals ... yes 3 goals in 2 minutes. That last 27 seconds of the first quarter shows we lack smarts/aplomb/cunning to milk a lousy 27 seconds.

Betts ... sloppy ... falls over for no reason ... content to look like a slob with his shorts halfway down his backside. To some this might not be important but I think it displays a carefree attitude.

Inability to kick the ball low and hard over short distances, hence our poor inside 50 entries. We have assembled a poor kicking squad.

a) If we (BMFC) win tomorrow and Sydney win tomorrow night I'll be able to see us play a final for the first time in a decade.
b) Nobody goes to ANZ and the tickets are way cheaper than MCG
c) Garlett stopped reading his press.
d) Murphy cracked on all game
e) If that retard Sandilands hadn't got the armchair umpy ride Warnock woudl have at least broken even
f) armfield running and taking on
g) Simpson - our spiriitual leader. AGAIN he was the one to lift to get us into a game we had no right to be in. A lot cheaper too.

Con
There is nothing to do in Homebush after the game
Magotts
Eddie reading his press
Bower is a @#$%&! dumb cauliflower - quick and tall but @#$%&! stupid footballer.

Just finished atching the game

Pros
Loved the dash of Armfield and Simmo (love the guy!!)
Robbo has a real dip - lacks refinement but with good coaching and development that will come.
We worked hard to make a contest of it in the last quarter.
People bag Russell but I thought he showed composure
Jeff Garlett is going to be such a threat in the years to come
A narrow loss (could be a con as well...)
Cons
We lack such skill and refinement in our bottom 6-8 players and they get exposed under pressure.
Tacking still not good enough and we don't get to the ball first in the contested ball anywhere near enough
We are certainly mid table and play accordingly. It all has to click for us to take a big scalp - maybe next week
Still little cameos from Yarran - what he does is all class and again with support and good development we have a gun. The lad needs more of an engine and will get that, then look out!
The smug look on that prick Harvey's face when they won

Pros
- didn't get thumped
- Murph another good game, has stepped it up last few weeks
- Jeffy always putting in 110%
- Warnock did really well against someone who is given free licence to do as they please (see: shit umps)
- Gibbs good down back, took quite a few marks deep in their 50
- Armfield good dash
- Hendo good until he got smashed and then i think he was done for the night, felt sorry for him

Cons
- injury to Carrots early on: why does this shit happen against this flogs
- shit umps
- Eddie had another poor game x3 in a row now
- shit umps
- Bower had another poor game x2 in a row (let's face it he didn't have to do much against Richmond)
- shit umps
- Robbo was dumb tonight
- laid way more tackles but most of them were weak
- contested marking shithouse as usual
- smug @#$%&! Harvey and dumb Freo idiots on TV

still really pissed off

Pros:
Intensity high for majority of game...

Finals atmosphere and our best stood up.
Murph, Judd, Gibbs, Simpson all very good.

Ellard, Waite, Joseph, Garlet all ok...
Warnock, hendo, armfield tried hard all night.

Cons:
We have some dumb footballers...
Bower, Robinson, Betts will cost you more than they make for you....
There are some excuses for bower, but non for the other 2.

If they can't get basics right ie; chest marks, then we can't expect them to play at this level.

With no natural match up for robbo, walker would've been more value in the same role.

I genuinely believe that that was our best effort 'under pressure' for the year.

Our best is/are good enough...
Our worst need to be traded....

Pros: Gibbs I thought there was many instances where he had to go and did, took some very good defensive marks and gave us good run out of defense, our best in my opinion

Joseph, stuck to his task and kept battling

Warnock, I was a big critic of this bloke and honestly thought we got it wrong by taking him. I'm happy to say I was wrong, his efforts in the contests were great, he actually plays with heart and really gets in there

Simpson, This bloke and Judd are the only 2 in our team that are game breakers, when we started coming back he was instrumental

Gartlett, this kid is so clever, great season

Our tackling pressure all game was great I thought

All in all now that I have had my sook about it and slept on it. That was a pretty good effort considering their best players had a rest and were fresh, we were one man down from late in the 1st qtr and we had to travel interstate... Yet the boys still kept coming and had a few chances to steal it. It honestly felt like we lost a final last night to me. I hope the players are hurt by that loss and the great thing is we have next week to have a crack. The season starts now! Yes it would have been awesome to watch our blues in melbourne, but it's not gonna happen now. So forget that and start preparing for next week, it will be tough whoever we play,
but on our day if we come with the correct mindset and intensity we can beat anyone.

Cons:
We won't get to fill the G for a final in Victoria

Betts, Robinson and Bower... Too many costly mistakes really hurt the team

Skills hurts us in the end that was the difference, dropped marks, missed goals, usual story

UMPIRES - seriously is there a rule called incorrect disposal anymore? The amount of times we tackled blokes and they would just drop the ball or just let the ball fall out of their hands was ridiculous!

As soon as Warnock does the same umpires give a free to Sandilands

We are now in the same half of the finals draw as the Bulldogs. IF we can get past next week then who knows.....

Cons

No Melbourne final again, and tough road trip next week

I think people are being too harsh on Bower. Sure he was frustrating and poor at times last night, but at other times he was fantastic. He has shown in the past he can be an absolute gun. He is really down on confidence right now but even then still provides us with great run. If he can find some confidence I reckon he can go back to being a really good player, both in the marking contests and with his run.

Don't forget how awful his injury run this season has been. He was great against Richmond and then Collingwood in round 6, but that second run of injury really killed him.

I thought we would win last night so I am disappointed. But on reflection it was great that we played in a game like that. Freo had fresh players, brought their A game, the intensity was enormous, it felt like a final and we stood up and lost by a goal. A bit more polish and we win. Play them in Melbourne and we win by 5 goals.

Con - we got beaten at the clearances and the stopages
Con - we couldnt get the ball inside 50
Con- the two above are not usually a problem when Hadley plays
Con- Ratten keeps dropping Hadley and bringing in soft Out siders
con - if he does the same next week we will get smashed

Pro- I get to go to the footy next week

con- It has been donkeys years since I have seen Carlton win Live - Wizaed cup 2003 at ANZ

yes wtf was that about! poor Robbie looked completely confused when he got pinged for that and rightly so.

Pro: Since the Essendon* game I have been much more impressed with our general pressure and teamwork. We're not quite there yet, but we're improving.

Pros:
Murphy - BOG by a mile
Simpson - helped get the run back and busted his gut as always
Judd - after a slow start, gave us the spark.
Warnock - battle hard against Sandilands, but continued his relatively good form
Armfield - loved this guy breaking the lines and taking them on even in the back 50.
Good game for our youngsters to experience finals like intensity
Our tackling pressure and intensity
One more chance to earn a home final, if we win next week

Cons:
Umpiring very biased towards Freo - yes there were some that were there, but the ones they missed of ours
Quiet games to Hampson, Yarran, Betts.
Bower had a night he'd rather forget
No much protection for Judd - again

Pros
Judd, despite being mauled was terrific.
Murphy again
Gibbs
Simpson, will win the B and F
Warnock
Ellard
Garlett, should be one of the rising star favourites surely.
Fought the game out well

Cons.
Bower, his decision making and disposal was terrible.
Betts went missing again.
Umpires, 5 goals from frees killed us.
Jacobs should have played instead of Hampson
Carrazzo being injured early cost us.
Griggs shot for goal.
The channel 7 coverage was so bad i almost turned it off to listen to the radio, the continual change of angles and showing meaningless replays while play was going on was very frustrating.

Went to the game and I can tell you that Harvey wasn't the only one shitting himself in the last. You could smell the fear in the crowd. And they're shitting themselves for next week. Either the Blues again, without the advantage of coming off their DUI bye, or Hawthorn and they're really scared of them. With good cause, they are ruthless and any ruthless team in a do-or-die final will simply do whatever it takes to put Sandilands out of the game and that will be the end of the Dockers entire structure. In fairness had they kicked straight they'd have put it beyond us well before 3QT.

PROS
- We have played much better footy since the Essendon* match and will go into the finals in reasonable form
- Tackle count was above 90
- Our guns played well
- The played out of their skin and won by just 6pts (although, to be fair, should have been a lot more)
- Lapses in concentration/effort/skill cost us at several stages (late 1Q, early 2Q, early 3Q, late 4Q). If not for these, we win
- If we beat Sydney (which we can do) we play understrength Bulldogs

CONS
- Finishing
- WHY DO WE TRY TO MARK ON OUR CHEST WITH A PLAYER ON OUR TAIL??? FFS STRETCH OUT THE ARMS AND TAKE IT CLEAR IN FRONT!!!!
- Umpiring (Betts pushed into the 3rd row, no free, rebounds for a goal to them, Warnock unfairly penalised for doing what every ruckman does all the time, soft frees to them, free-free-zone for us...)
- Dumb football (eg. 3 of us all go to thei ball carrier, leaving 2 of theirs free for easy ball over the top)
- Part time runners!
