We won't get within a bull's roar of the Swans, as they have had the wood on us for many a year.

I am hoping we play Freo again. I think we could beat them if we had a bit of luck.

If we play the Swans, we need a player (other than Judd- he can't do it all, or can he?) who can intimidate them in terms of their confidence.

Garlett, Simpson or Waite....maybe put Gibbs in the midfield.....something inspirational.
Anderson played in our win over the Swans last year - he is one of the few that knows what it is like to beat the Swans. He could be a viable option to bring into the match.

Will McBurney get to umpire another match this season? are they courageous enough to drop a high profile umpire for a woeful performance?

It has been a disappointing year for the Blues even though the team made the finals....I don't think we have progressed from last year, just broken even at best.

Sunday I believe.

If Carrots is ok to play this week, in the interest of the team, why wasn't he rotated instead of adding the extra load to our other mids playing one down?

If GPS stats are so important, for the sake of one guy playing next week compared to a flat midfield, I think in hindsight we've taken a big risk.

Let's hope I'm reading too much into it.

Tap, we have moved on or phased out a lot of experienced players of questionable use to the club in Fev, stevens, Thornton and possibly Houla and still equalled last year. We are now set to build a team from a young list that united as one can go on to do big things. We still need to add quality to the list to compliment Murph, Gibbs, SImpson, Judd, Yaz, Garlett and co.
I feel a lot better about us this year.

Next week i would rather play the Swans. A trip back to perth would be a disaster.

The swans have been terrible on ANZ and Mumford could be out. It will be boys against men however so it will be very tough.

We got smashed at the clearances last time against Sydney so Hadley back in is a no brainer.

Jamo and Bower were out of their depth last night and last time against the Swans, Thornton back in is a no brainer.

Hampson or Jacobs that is the question? Hammer has the upside being an athletic beast but honestly Jacobs IMO is the better ruckman and a better mark. I think Sauce deserves the spot in the final more.

So it's down to Freo or Sydney next week. We have avoided Hawthorn.

We must re-structure our side more than anything. Setanta to CHB allowing Bower to play 3rd tall, Gibbs to the midfield, Walker up forward where he can take a mark and use his pace, Betts to the midfield where his defensive skills (boy do we need that!) and speed will be very handy. He'll also go and get his own ball. Be a much better structure. At the moment it's all wrong. Setanta, Walker in, Davies, Yarran out.

If there's one criticism I have this year of Ratts it's been his inflexible structure. Doesn't help.

Being the main forward target being treated like a 6' 6" KP forward has probably taken it's toll on Betts this year. Hard to be 2' 6" and have the ball dropped on top of your head in a 2 on 1 marking contest so often. Takes it's toll after a while. Free him up from that and put him in the midfield.

The only thing finishing 8th is if we manage to win we should score an out of form Bulldogs in Week 2. Just now Week 1 will be very hard probably playing in Sydney.

We have to remember how we played St.Kilda this year and the Swans last year and work hard on that. Not just go defensive. Run the ball hard and get it in long and deep to keep pressure on the Swans defence near our goal.

I doubt Setanta will come in. Was out of Bullants with virus.
If Carrazzo is out, then either Walker or Hadley will come in. Arguments for both. I think we missed Hadley last night - they beat us in the clearances too easily. But then, Walker will be handy on the big ground. And, he could play on Goodes.
Don't think there will be changes in the ruck. Hampson is clearly the preferred ruckman and has more upside and more speed.

Betts might be in a bit of danger but I think they'll stick with him. Wouldn't want many changes of personnel or gameplan going into a final.
Davies may be dropped for Walker. Hadley in for Carrazzo. Robinson could be in danger b/c he is more sizzle than sausage BUT I reckon his attitude will be important against the Swans and I reckon he's a big game player, capable of kicking 3 in a final.

How does the Dawks possibly winning [leading by 5pts with only about 5 minutes to go] impact on us next week?

a hawks win puts pressure on sydney to win to secure a home final

so hopefully hawks win , sydney go all out and get some injuries and win - then we can beat a battered swans in sydney

(a hawks win also starts the colliwobbles)

The Hawks did win so the Swans have to win tonight to get a home final (better for us to go to Sydney that go to Perth again). Hopefully the Pies are on a downward spiral.

Ratts interviewed during game today....
He was watching Sause, Hadley and McLean...
Read into that what you want!

Would love to play Gibbs in the middle, but Goodes will tear us one if we don't get someone to run with him. And Gibbs has done the job well in the past.

not sure about what ratts was saying but for me, i reckon we would be strengthened by including thornton and walker next week.
sauce was good but I still think hampson is a better option.
didn't think mclean or hadley did quite enough. anderson is no better than whoever he might replace.

Apart from a sublimely deft handball to advantage last night which highlights his class, I was disappointed with Yarrans game.

He'll probably stay in and I'd be happy with that, but I wouldn't be unhappy to see Waitey moved down back to shore up the defence and Fish brought in to play deep forward like he did today for the ants.
